Make raising Pak flag a heinous crime: Shiv Sena

The Shiv Sena today demanded the government to declare ‘raising Pakistani flags and chanting pro-Pakistan slogans’ by the separatists a heinous crime equivalent to murder and make provision for harsher punishment for such act.

Led by its leader Dimpy Kohli, Shiv Sainiks today protested against raising of Pakistan flags and chanting of pro-Pakistan slogans by the separatists in Kashmir valley, in Srinagar and other south Kashmir areas.

Amid anti-Pakistan and separatist slogans, they also burnt the effigies of separatists.

TNSF activists held at Kukatpally MLA’s house

Enraged over Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao joining the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi on the eve of MLC elections, a large number of activists of Telugu Nadu Students Federation marched to the residence of the legislator this morning and raised slogans against him.

However, police personnel rushed to the spot and took the protestors into custody. With this, the protestors had heated arguments with the police amidst the tense atmosphere.

Amarinder asks Modi to announce date of implementing OROP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi should have announced the date of implementing the One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme for ex-servicemen, rather than calling it a “vexed” issue, Congress leader Amarinder Singh said today.

“The Prime Minister should have announced a date to implement the OROP instead of dishing out vague assurances”, said the Lok Sabha MP from Amritsar in a statement issued here.

Reacting to Modi’s appeal to the ex-servicemen to have patience during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio address today, Singh said, “Yes, their patience is running out and you are responsible for that.”

Afghan president to appoint four female envoys

Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has decided to appoint four female ambassadors in his efforts to increase women’s role in government, media reported on Sunday.

President Ghani has said that as per Islamic values he defended women’s rights, reports Khaama press.

Ghani met a number of female activists in the presidential place in the capital city, and said women’s right will never be sacrificed for peace.

He said appointments of women in key government positions and their portfolios would be announced next week.

Heat wave claims 20 more lives in Telangana

The ongoing heat wave conditions claimed another 20 lives in Telangana State on Sunday.

Of 20 deaths, seven were reported from Karimnagar, three each from Khammam and Medak, two each from Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Adilabad and one death has been reported from Nizamabad district. Meanwhile, the Met Department has predicted that the heat wave conditions would continue to prevail for the next 24 hours. (INN)

The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to develop Tirupati and Vijayawada airports as International Airports.

The move is aimed at paving the way for rapid economic development and enhancing the image of the State at the global level. With the intervention of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the Government of India has agreed to bear the cost of land acquisition for expansion of airports at Vijayawada, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam.
