Discussed aerospace, defence, civil aviation with Gerwert: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said he discussed initiatives in aerospace, defence and civil aviation during his meet with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Airbus Defence and Space, Bernhard Gerwert.

Prime Minister Modi took to twitter to share his experience.

“Discussed initiatives in aerospace, defence and civil aviation during my meet with CEO @AirbusDS, Mr. Bernhard Gerwert,” he posted.

Earlier in the day, Gerwert recalled the Prime Minister’s visit to the Airbus manufacturing facility in Toulouse, in April, and the positive atmosphere and interest.

Police may approach court seeking lie detector test on Tharoor

Investigators probing the mysterious death of Sunanda Pushkar may move a local court seeking lie detector test on her husband and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.

Six persons including three “prime witnesses” in the case were already put through lie detector (polygraph) test and sources indicated that the police may go for carrying out the test on Tharoor.

When asked about it, Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi said, he was not aware of any such move, but said it was upto the investigating officer to do what he deemed fit.

PM expresses sadness over Indonesia plane crash

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed sadness over an Indonesian plane crash in which 113 people are feared to have been killed.

“News of the plane crash in Indonesia is deeply unfortunate. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased and prayers with those injured,” the prime minister said.

All 113 people on board a Hercules C-130 military cargo aircraft were feared killed when the military plane crashed into a residential area in Medan city on Indonesia’s Sumatra island on Tuesday, media reported.

Kejriwal says Modi ‘bullying’ AAP government

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday hit out at the “gundagardi” (bullying) of the Narendra Modi government, which he said was preventing his government from doing its work in the national capital.

He attacked Modi on various fronts, ranging from the black money issue to the tussle between the Aam Aadmi Party government and the central government over the posting of officials in the Delhi government and the Anti-Corruption Branch.

The letter was disclosed to the media after DS met TRS Secretary General K Keshav Rao at latter’s residence on Tuesday.

KCR falls sick, skips Raj Bhavan dinner

Citing ill health, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao skipped the dinner hosted by Governor ESL Narasimham at Raj Bhavan in honour of President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday evening.

Interestingly, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who skipped the official ceremony to receive the President at the Air Force Station, Hakimpet on Monday, attended the dinner. Both Deputy Chief Ministers of Telangana, Kadiyam Srihari and Mohammed Mahmood Ali, and other ministers and officials of Telangana Government were present at Raj Bhavan for the Governor’s dinner.

TDP leaders accuses KCR of damaging their party in Telangana

TDP leaders on Tuesday accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of hatching a conspiracy to weaken Telugu Desam Party in Telangana State.

Speaking to media person here, TDP Telangana unit president L Ramana and former minister E Peddireddy alleged that the ‘Cash for Vote’ case and other related developments were part of the conspiracy hatched by KCR to damage TDP. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday stayed away from the state banquet hosted by the governor in honour of President Pranab Mukherjee.

Indigo will go for IPO, to Raise Rs 1,270 Crore

InterGlobe Aviation said in a statement the IPO would include a sale of up to Rs 1,270 crore ($199.64 million) of new shares, and the sale of up to 30.15 million of existing shares.

Those selling existing shares include travel entrepreneur Rahul Bhatia and former US Airways CEO Rakesh Gangwal, who co-founded IndiGo back in 2006, according to the draft prospectus.

Budget carrier IndiGo, which operates a fleet of 96 planes, has grown to become India’s biggest airline by market share and now carries one in three of India’s air travellers.

On Monday morning, an Air India flight from Mumbai to New York was delayed by nearly an hour on account of a member of the entourage of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Sources said that the politician’s aide, Praveen Pardeshi, arrived at the airport with an outdated passport. Passengers were then forced to wait for 50 minutes while the bureaucrat’s new passport was delivered to him, said sources.

Jayalalithaa returns to assembly with over 1,50,000 MARGIN

AIADMK general secretary and Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa was returned to the Tamil Nadu assembly on Tuesday by a record victory margin from the Radkhakrishnan Nagar constituency here.

Jayalalithaa polled 160,432 votes while her nearest rival, Communist Party of India’s (CPI) C. Mahendran, got just 9,710 votes — a victory margin of 150,722 votes.

The total electorate in the constituency was around 245,000, and the chief minister bagged more than 50 percent of that.

Gujarat HC junks 29-year-old plea saying Indira’s murder was ‘suicide’

The Gujarat high court has dismissed a plea filed in 1986 which had sought to declare former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s assassination by two of her security guards as a ‘well-arranged suicide’ to facilitate her son Rajiv Gandhi to become Prime Minister.

The plea was filed 29 years ago but it came up for hearing for the first time yesterday and the high court immediately rejected it.

Petrol prices cut by 31 paise, diesel 71 paise

Petrol prices were today cut by 31 paise per litre and diesel by 71 paise a litre in line with fall in international oil rates and rupee appreciation.

The cut in petrol prices comes on back of three successive increases since May, while this is the second reduction in diesel rates this month.

Petrol in Delhi will cost Rs 66.62 per litre from tomorrow instead of Rs 66.93 at present. A litre of diesel will cost Rs 50.22 per litre as against Rs 50.93 earlier, Indian Oil Corp (IOC), the nation’s largest oil company, said.

AAP has become ‘Khaas Aadmi Party’: Maken

Govt to chalk out plan to check radicalisation of Kashmiri youth

Alarmed by reports of growing radicalisation of Kashmiri youth, the government would soon chalk out a plan to thwart the designs of terror groups like ISIS to swell their ranks by indoctrinating them to choose the path of militancy.

In an internal communication, Home Secretary L C Goyal has entrusted this task to Special Secretary (Internal Security) Ashok Prasad, who has served as Director General of Police in the state.

The Home Secretary has asked for an urgent plan to prevent such radicalisation in the state.
