BJP credits Modi govt for reduction in petrol, diesel prices

BJP on Friday welcomed the reduction in petrol and diesel prices and hoped that it will help bring down inflation to make life easier for the common man.

Crediting the Narendra Modi government for having reduced the price of petrol six times and that of diesel twice after coming to power, the party attacked the previous Congress-led UPA dispensation, saying it was only raising the prices.

Former cop and social activist Kiran Bedi today advocated for a holistic approach towards ensuring women’s safety and security involving parents, teachers as well as state.

“When we look at women’s security, its the six P concept. If we look at it with six P formula, we address it in all directions. Unless we address it in all directions, any aspect left unattended as a chain…Women’s security will suffer,” she said while speaking at the launch of the 70th anniversary of the UN in India.

White ration card for rice only: Etela

Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Etela Rajender today clarified that white ration card is just meant for only rice and not for any other schemes.

Talking to press persons here he said that the government will give ration cards to eligible and poor in the state. Claiming that the TRS Government is of people and pro poor he said that will give ration cards to all the eligible. He denied allegations that the government will cancel or remove lakhs of cards in the name of bogus.

BJP aims to break records with its membership drive

BJP national general secretary JP Nadda on Friday said the party is aiming to break all records in inducting new members during a membership drive to be launched from November 1.

“We would like to break all records in terms of our membership drive throughout India this time. The membership drive will be launched at our central party office tomorrow and will continue till March 31, 2015. The membership will be for six years,” Nadda told reporters here.

AP CM visits RPO to take Diplomatic Passport

AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naiday obtained diplomatic passport at Regional Passport Office here today.
Naidu went to the RPO in Secunderabad for diplomatic passport where he was warmly welcomed by RPO officer Ashwini Sattaru and deputy passport officer Madan Kumar Reddy and completed all formalities for the diplomatic passport. The passport officials within 10 minutes handed over diplomatic passport to the AP Chief Minister.

AP Launching sand delivery scheme: Naidu

AP government is launching a people’s friendly scheme in selling sand for construction of houses.
“If you deposit money in Mee Seva, sand would be delivered at your house”, the chief minister Chandrababu Naidu said. The scheme would be launched in the next two to three days, he said.

The AP government is preparing data for waiving off loans to farmers and presently loans taken for agriculture purpose would be waived off, he said while speaking with the district Collectors through video conference.(NSS).

1,000-hour bandh in Assam districts lifted

A 1,000-hour bandh in Assam’s Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts demanding an autonomous state was Friday lifted following an assurance from the central government on the issue.

The bandh was called Oct 27 by the Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State (JACAS), a conglomeration of 17 organisations in the two districts, to press for the creation of an autonomous state by combining the two districts.

“We have decided to withdraw the 1,000-hour bandh from 5 p.m. today (Friday),” JACAS convener Stalin Engty said.

Three schoolchildren stabbed in China

Police in east China’s Jiangxi province have launched a manhunt after two schoolchildren were stabbed to death and another sustained serious injuries Friday.

The suspect attacked the children as they walked home from school at 11.45 a.m. at Luojia village in Yiyang county, Shangrao city, Xinhua reported citing a spokesman with the county publicity department.

The suspect fled to the nearby countryside and police are yet to find the weapon.

An eight-year-old boy died on the spot and another child died in hospital.

Sardar Patel would have resolved Kashmir issue: Chouhan

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday said the “entire Kashmir region would also have been an integral part of India” if the matter had been entrusted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

“All credit for the current geographical boundaries of the country must go to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Patel merged princely states in the Union of India. Had the Kashmir issue been entrusted to him like other states, the entire Kashmir region would also have been an integral part of India,” Chouhan said.

CBI arrests Odisha MLA in chit fund scam

The CBI Friday arrested a ruling BJD MLA in Odisha for his alleged complicity with Artha Tatwa Group chief Pradip Sethy, who has duped thousands through a chit fund scam in the state.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the chit fund scam, interrogated Banki constituency MLA Pravat Tripathy for his alleged links with the AT Group and later arrested him as he failed to give satisfactory answers.

The agency made the arrest after interrogating him for the fifth time in recent days. The CBI had grilled Tripathy Oct 25 for two-and-a-half hours.

Gas company manager found dead

A manager of a gas agency was found hanging to the ceiling in the premises of his workplace under suspicious circumstances.

The deceased, B Sudhakar Reddy, 32, was the manager of Indian Gas agency at Ghatkesar and was found dead in his office premises. Ghatkesar police began investigations after registering a case of suspicious death. (INN)

Labourer found murdered in Shamshabad

A 37-year-old labourer was found murdered in the Shamshabad Rural police limits on Friday.

The body of P Venkatesh was found lying in a pool of blood in the fields near his house in Ghansimiyaguda where he used to work. His throat has been slit by some unidentified persons. Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that Venkatesh had an argument with his wife Kamalamma on Thursday on some family issue. Later, Kamalamma went to her brother’s house along with her two children and Venkatesh too left for work.
