Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Etela Rajender today clarified that white ration card is just meant for only rice and not for any other schemes.
Talking to press persons here he said that the government will give ration cards to eligible and poor in the state. Claiming that the TRS Government is of people and pro poor he said that will give ration cards to all the eligible. He denied allegations that the government will cancel or remove lakhs of cards in the name of bogus.
Rajender said that they will continue Rs 1/- a kg rice and feed the poor and no changes were made to the previous norms. There is a plan to lift the limitation of giving only 20 kgs rice per family who may get even more, he stated. Actually we are trying to give more rice to the poor to ensure they get square meal a day. Reprimanding the opposition allegations on the proposed removal of the cards Rajender tried allay fears that the government will give the ration cards to all poor and eligible and there is no need of panic. He appealed to the people not to get carried away by the other parties propaganda. He asked the opposition whether they do not want to implement Rs 1 a Kg rice scheme to feed the poor. The TRS Government is following the same old conditions in the PDS system introduced by Centre and State Governments. (NSS)
