There was a time when booking VIP numbers for cars was the ‘in’ thing. Today, a similar fad has overtaken expectant parents who are looking at booking unique dates for their child’s birth. Maternity homes in the city are currently inundated with requests from expecting mothers and eager families to deliver their babies on astrologically favourable dates, 1/11/2011 and 11/11/2011, through procedures like ‘induction of labour’.

Bail plea of Malegaon blast accused deferred till November 19

Mumbai, October 31: The period of wait for the nine Muslim accused in Malegaon 2006 bomb blast, who are in jail since 2006, and who had filed bail application on 1st of October, got extended. The hearing of their bail plea was deferred till 19th of November 2011. The court deferred the matter after the National Investigative Agency (NIA) told the Special Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) Court, that its reply on the issue of bail to the nine Muslim accused arrested in the 2006 Malegaon blast case, was not ready yet.

She calls him an “epitome of romance” and says she would love to work with him.

“Well, I am a big fan of Shah Rukh Khan who is an epitome of romance in Bollywood, ” Stewart said in an e-mail interaction.

She said if given a chance, he would be the one with whom she would love to do the second part of her movie “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn”.

Student commits suicide over lack of attendance

Hyderabad, October 31: Triptama aged 16 years a student of Midchel Junior College committed suicide as her exam fees was not accepted by the college for lack of attendance. According to the girl’s father Kishnaiya, Triptama was the student of first year in Midchel Junior College.

She reached college with the exam fee 3 days ago however the college administration didn’t accept her fee. Dejected over this she committed suicide by consuming pesticide the next day when she went to the farm with her parents.

Hyderabad, October 31: Now a days even the places like graveyards have also been commercialized. The culprit is none other than our own irresponsible and apathetic waqf board. There are so many indecent hoardings installed on several graveyards.

Dargah Hazrat Shah Abdul Qauder Soofi (Khanqah raozatul Asfia) also has a film hoarding inside its boundary. The authorities of the dargah should not have given permission for this. This is an old graveyard adjacent to Husain Sagar. The iron poles for installing the hoarding have been erected by digging inside the dargah.

Hyderabad, October 31: Khadim ul Harmain Sharifain Shah Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Vali Saudi Arab has invited Khadim ul Quran Peer Syed Shabbir Naqshbandi Ifteqari President, All India Religious Leaders Association for Holy Pilgrimage of Hajj Baitullah and ziarat-e-Madina Munawwara, in acknowledgment of his services between Saudi Arabia and India for the past 30 year.

Peer Naqshbandi will leave for Delhi on October 31 and will proceed for Saudi Arabia on November 2 where he would meet the family of Late Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz to condole his death.

“Stroke robot” launched at Apollo hospitals

Hyderabad, October 31: Apollo Hospitals has launched the first and only (FDA)-cleared “stroke Robot” which enables the physician to remotely monitor and guide the treatment of stroke.

Apollo hospitals has launched this robot costing Rs.15 million on the occasion of ‘brain stroke day’. October 29 is observed as World Stroke Day.

A million people die in India every year due to stroke. India ranks second in the world after China in the number of deaths caused by strokes.

Nawab Saif Ali Khan!

Mumbai, October 31: Film actor Saif Ali Khan was made the tenth nawab of Pataudi on Monday in a pagdiceremony at his ancestral property Pataudi, little ahead of Gurgaon.

The ceremony saw people of nearby villages thronging the Pataudi palace. The ceremony was attended by Saif’s mother Sharmila Tagore and sisters Soha Ali Khan and Sabah Ali Khan. The Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda also graced the event.

Son of former cricketer Mansur Ali Khan, Saif inherited the title after his father’s demise in September this year.

Hyderabad, October 31 (Siasat News): The north zone team of the task force arrested a man involved in making fake DVDs and seized considerable numbers from his possession.

According to details, B Suresh, resident of Pochamnpally village, Medchal, was a mechanic earlier.

However, in the course of time, he learnt the repairing work of all the electronic gadgets and opened a shop. As he was financially still not sound, he took the short cut to earn money and started making fake CDs and DVDs.

Hrithik most kissed at Madame Tussauds?

Mumbai, October 31: Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan`s wax figure has reportedly made it to the list of top 10 most kissed statues in London`s Madame Tussauds museum.

Though the museum is yet to make an official statement a source confirms that he has indeed made it to the top 10, adding that last year, actor Shah Rukh Khan had made it to the Top 10 list.

According to the source, at least 20 percent of total kissers are males and the rest are women, mostly under the age of 30.

Why Saudi men prefer to perform Haj alone?

Jeddah, October 31: A quarter of women surveyed on the Internet by a Jeddah social center have said husbands who perform the Haj alone are being selfish. They said the men should take their wives with them.

About a third of the women who answered the questionnaire did not see this as a big deal and said it was normal behavior by men, while 44 percent said married couples should do Haj together.

Arab News asked a number of men why they did not take their wives with them to Haj and many of them said it was purely for financial reasons.

Girl set afire for resisting rape

Lucknow, October 31: Two brothers in Uttar Pradesh were arrested for setting afire their 14-year-old neighbour when she resisted their attempts to rape her, police said. The girl received 70 percent burns and is battling for life in a Delhi hospital.

The girl, a native of Dhakauli village in Bulandshahr district, some 350 km from Lucknow, was Saturday set ablaze by brothers Mashooq and Ashraf, both in their 20s, while she was alone at her house.

State’s experiments with Urdu

Hyderabad, October 31: Subsequent to the Centre’s 1913 resolution on educational policy encouraging regional universities, Mysore was the first of the Indian states to establish an institution of higher learning outside the jurisdiction of British administered India in 1916. Hyderabad followed soon thereafter with the Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan issuing a farman on April 26, 1917 to initiate action for the establishment of a university at Hyderabad which eventually culminated in the founding of the Osmania University by a Royal Charter in 1918.
