Syrian army bombs kill eight in Aleppo

Four children and a woman were among the eight people killed Tuesday when Syrian government aircraft dropped bombs on the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, or SOHR, said.

Government helicopters dropped barrel bombs on a district located between the neighbourhoods of al-Khadr and Sakhur in eastern Aleppo, the London-based NGO said.

At least 17 rebel fighters were killed Monday in attacks on their barracks in the town of Kafr Zita, a northern suburb in Hama province, the human rights group said.

First Ebola case diagnosed in US

A patient in Texas has tested positive for Ebola, becoming the first person diagnosed in the US with the deadly virus, US health authorities said Tuesday.

Tom Frieden, director of the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), told a press conference that the patient is an adult who flew from Liberia to Texas to visit family earlier this month, Xinhua reported.

The patient had no symptoms when leaving West Africa but began to develop symptoms about four days after arriving in the US Sep 20, Frieden said.

Teach Urdu to English Medium students

Parents should spend some time with their children to teach them Urdu since it is their Mother tongue and most of Islamic literature is in Urdu. Whatever be the medium of instruction of the child, he should be taught Urdu. SIMI President and Secretary exonerated by Court

14th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Nampally Criminal Court exonerated Mr. Ather Quraishi (President), Mr. Ahmed Husain (General Secretary) and Mr. Muqueemuddin Yasir, s/o Maulana Mohammed Naseeruddin. The then DCP of South Zone Mr. S. Umapati had registered a case against them after the ban was imposed on SIMI on 28th September 2001. Chaderghat police had registered a case and Mr. Yasir was imprisoned for a long time at Indore (M.P.).

LAWCET Notification likely on 4th October

Rajiv Shukla welcomes renewal of Indo-US defence agreement

India, US to intensify cooperation on anti-terror fight: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Barack Obama Tuesday discussed the issue of terrorism, including in West Asia, and agreed to cooperate in counter-terrorism measures and in intelligence sharing.

IS forces closing in on Syrian-Kurdish town

The Islamic State Sunni radical group advanced Tuesday on Kobani, the Syrian-Kurdish town on the Turkish border, and have come within two or three kilometres of the strategic town, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, or SOHR, said.

The London-based NGO noted that the militant group is approaching from the city’s eastern outskirts and said it has never before been so close to the town it has been trying to take in an offensive that began Sep 16.
