Former PCC President and ex-minister D Srinivas is most likely to join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi soon.
While the rumours were doing rounds since Tuesday morning about Srinivas’ possible exit from Congress, the former PCC chief fired a letter to AICC President Sonia Gandhi complaining about the attitude of party General Secretary and incharge of Telangana affairs Digvijay Singh. The letter was disclosed to the media after DS met TRS Secretary General K Keshav Rao at latter’s residence on Tuesday.
According to sources, Srinivas was upset with the party high command after it denied him re-nomination in the MLC elections. This has also cost him the post of Leader of Opposition in Council and his bete noire Mohammed Ali Shabbir was elected to the post. Further, a woman leader from Nizamabad, Akula Lalitha was picked for the MLC post which reduced the significance of Srinivas in his native Nizamabad district.
Although Digvijay Singh tried to pacify Srinivas, the latter did not even pick up his phone calls. Sources say that Srinivas’ letter to Sonia Gandhi was a prelude to his entry into the TRS. (INN)
