Telangana Development Forum Canada has hosted an IFTAR party on June 27, 2015 at Pearl Banquet and Convention centre in Mississauga city which was a first of its kind in Canada by a Telangana organization and was a grand success. This culturally significant event brought together the Muslim brethren hailing from Telangana (Hyderabad) who are currently living in Canada and gave an opportunity to reassert their Telangana identity and reconnect with fellow Telanganites in this holy month of Ramzan.
The party started with the TDF core team members welcoming the huge gathering of Telangana Muslims and was followed by speech from the Chief guest Mr. Zahir Kaiser, Director of Hyderabad Deccan Foundation of Canada (HDFC). During the meeting, many members of Telangana Muslim community repeatedly emphasized that this event is like Ganga – Jamuna ka Tahzeeb (a reminder of Telangana’s confluence of cultures and celebrating each other’s festivals as our own) and felt honoured to be proud part of Telangana. The Iftar party continued with a traditional namaz offered by devout Muslim brothers to break the fast followed by a delicious and authentic Hyderabadi dinner which was served to honour the guests.
The guests thanked TDF, Canada for hosting this Iftar party and for bringing together fellow Telanganites and promised to partake in future events hosted by TDF, Canada. On this occasion TDF, Canada and Hyderabad Deccan Foundation of Canada (HDFC) came to an understanding about organizing several such events together in the future. TDF, Canada core team would like to thank each and every attendee and contributor for making the event a grand success.
