TRS all set to win five MLC seats as YSRCP announces support

In a significant development, the YSR Congress Party on Sunday announced its support to the TRS in the elections for six MLC seats to be held on Monday.

While the TRS had strengthened its position on Saturday by taking TDP’s MLA Krishna Rao into its fold on Saturday, its ensured the victory of its fifth candidate in the MLC polls by gaining the support of YSRCP, which has three members in the Assembly. Reacting to the appeal for support from TRS, YSRCP President Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday held a meeting with party’s Telangana unit president P Srinivas Reddy at Lotus Pond and decided to support the TRS.

Speaking to media persons later, Srinivas Reddy said that the YSRCP wanted its MLAs to cast its votes in a proper manner. Therefore, it was decided to support TRS. He alleged that the TDP never believed in ethical politics and it took support of Congress MLCs for the election of Deputy Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council. He said both the TDP and Congress lack morality. (INN)
