YSR kin are great actors and criminals: TDP

TDP Politburo member Yanamala Rama Krishnudu has said that the family members of late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy were not only criminals, but were also actors par excellence.
In a statement here on Thursday, Rama Krishnudu stated that Jagan’s mother and sister taking to the roads and trying for public sympathy after his arrest, stands a testimony for their great acting talents. He said that it was surprising that the family that should be produced in the people’s court as criminals was alleging that injustice was meted out to it.

Congress MLA Dwarampudi meets Vijayamma

Kakinada Congress MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy met YSR Congress honorary president Y S Vijayamma here on Thursday and expressed his support to her.

Another Congress MLA Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao, who has already announced his decision to join the YSR Congress, also met Vijayamma. The latest addition to the collection of Congress MLAs by the YSRC is Parvatipuram MLA Jaya Mani. Both Dwarampudi and Jaya Mani are expected to join the YSR Congress.

CM expresses grief over fire accidents

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday expressed grief over the frequent fire mishaps in the state due to summer heat. He asked the officials to take all precautionary measures and step up publicity campaign to prevent such fire accidents.

The Chief Minister directed the Collectors and Joint Collectors of Guntur and Khammam district to rush to the villages where major fire accidents took place. He also asked them to take up rescue and relief measures and make all efforts to help the victims of the fire mishap.

APPSC postpones Group-II exams to July 21

The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission on Thursday deferred the Group II examinations scheduled to be held on July 14-15 to July 21-22.

In a statement issued to media, APPSC Secretary Poonam Malakondaiah said that the examinations were re-scheduled as the Indian Forest Examination being conducted by the Union Public Service Commission were falling on the same date.

She said that so far 5,46,895 candidates registered the for the Group II examinations from the State. (INN)

HC adjourns hearing on Jagan’s interim bail petition on Friday

High Court Justice B Chandra Kumar on Thursday adjourned the hearing on interim bail petition of YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy to June 1 in connection with the disproportionate assets case.

In his fresh bail petition, Jagan Mohan Reddy’s counsel said that his client needs bail to campaign for the party in the by-elections scheduled to be held on June 12 for 18 Assembly constituencies and Nellore Lok Sabha constituency. The counsel said that Jagan would surrender before the court after the completion of election campaign on June 10 at 5 pm.

DS slams Vijayamma for politicising YSR’s death

Former PCC chief and MLC D Srinivas on Thursday regretted the statement of YSR Congress party honorary president Vijayamma suspecting the demise of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in the helicopter crash in 2009.

Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Srinivas termed the statement of Vijayamma as ‘unfortunate’ and asked as to why she has been raising doubts over the death of YSR after three years. He said that the State Government was ready for any kind of probe in this regard and would clear her doubts over the helicopter crash.

Will not contest on TDP ticket in 2014, announces Ramakotaiah

Telugu Desam MLA from Nuziveedu Assembly Constituency Chinnam Ramakotaiah on Thursday announced that he will not contest from TDP in the ensuing 2014 elections from the constituency.

Talking to media persons, Chinnam Ramakotaiah said that he took this decision as some section of leaders in the constituency were running parallel rule and creating hurdles for him. Even if the TDP gives ticket from the constituency, Ramakotaiah said that he was not ready to contest in 2014 elections.
