War like stores recovered in Kashmir

Security forces busted a militant hideout and recovered war like stores including automatic rifles in north Kashmir district of Bandipora. A Defence Ministry spokesman said here this evening that troops of 3 MADRAS and Special Operation group of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation following a tip off at Kimsar Nar near Bandipora. During the operation troops unearthed a militant hideout and recovered large cache of arms and ammunition from the hideout.

More than 100 thatched houses and 6 hay stacks gutted

More than 100 thatched houses and six haystacks were gutted in three different fire accidents in the district today.

Police said more than 60 thatched houses were gutted at Tallapalem village in Ponnuru mandal. as many as 100 families were rendered homeless and property worth Rs seven lakh destroyed in the fire. Hardly the fire was extinguished, another similar fire mishap took place at Mulukuduru village in the same mandal, destroying 40 thatched houses, rendering 50 families homeless. Property worth Rs five lakh destroyed in the accident.

Need to create awareness for ‘Plea Bargaining’ : CJ

N D Tiwari admitted to AIIMS after complain of uneasiness

Congress leader N D Tiwari was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) today after the octagenarian complained of uneasiness. AIIMS official said the leader was admitted in the old private ward of the hospital. “He was brought to the hospital in the afternoon. He is fine now and has been asked to undergo multiple tests as he is suffering from diseases like diabetes and ischemic heart disease,” the official added.

No woman employee to be deployed on duty as watchman

Haryana Education Minister today Geeta Bhukkal said no woman employee would be deployed on duty as watchman during night in schools. She said keeping in view the safety of women, under outsourcing policy male employees would be assigned the duty of watchman. She said summer vacations would commence in government schools from June 1 and for the better utilisation of time, summer camps would be organised in the schools.

Rear admiral G S Pabby takes charge as Dockyard chief

Rear Admiral GS Pabby, VSM took over as Admiral Superintendent Naval Dockyard Vishakhapatnam from Rear Admiral KR Nair, at a ceremony held at the Naval Dockyard here today, According to Navy Spokesman Mr Pabby, VSM, who was commissioned into the Indian Navy in August 1980, is an Engineering Specialist officer and an alumnus of Naval War College and the College of Defence Management. The Admiral is a specialist in Systems and Control, with a Masters degree from IIT, Mumbai. He has held various prestigious appointments in the Indian Navy including operational, design and staff.

Bahrain introduces Labour Market Regulartory Law

Bahrain was the first country in the Gulf region to have abolished the Sponsorship System and introduced the Labour Market Regulartory Law to prevent unfair treatment of migrant workers, said Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince of Bahrain.

This was stated by Crown Prince, who is also the Deputy Supreme Commander of the Kingdom of Bahrain, to Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan in a meeting at Raj Bhavan here yesterday.

He told the Governor that the large Indian community living in Bahrain is making handsome contribution to the economy of the country.

Contract killers slain

Two contract killers have been murdered in Jhiri-Tapriya village. Jabalpur District’s Gadaghat residents Neelesh Patel and Beni Patel were given Rs 1 lakh by Jhiri-Tapriya’s Kamlesh Patel to slay Hakam Singh Patel. Beni and Neelesh reached the village last night to commit the crime. Govt cancels Brahmini steel agreement, GO released

In a major development, Andhra Pradesh government has cancelled the MoU held with Brahmini steels promoted by former Minsiter and Iron ore Baron Gali Jasnardhana Reddy, who is currently lodged in jail at Bangalore in the illegal Obulapuram Mining Case (OMC). The government entered into agreement with Brahmini steels in 2007 by allocating over 14,000 acres of land to the company.

A Land record officer arrested

Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuth have arrested a ‘bhumapan’ (land measurement) officer while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant for recording owner’s name on the land record at city bhumapan office Mulund here today. According to the complainant he had purchased a plot from a private party and approached bhumapan office at Mulund with an application for recording owner’s name on the government record, according ACB sources said. Mr Machhidra Raghunath Bhujbal, bhumapan officer has demaded Rs 50,000 for updating record.

West Bengal Chief Minister today demanded an inquiry into the derailment of five bogies of the Howrah-Dehradun Doon Express in Uttar Pradesh stating it should be probed whether it was an ‘accident or an incident’.

Petrol prices may be revised today

Petrol prices may be revised tomorrow with companies talking about a scope of cutting rates by Rs1.50-1.60 a litre.

On a day when BJP-led NDA and the Left parties called a Bharat Bandh or a nationwide street protests against petrol price hike, the government appeared in no mood to announce a cut.

“To my mind, there will be no revision in rates tonight,” a senior official at one of the three state-run fuel retailers said.

Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum had over the past one week indicated of a scope of reducing rates from June 1.

Congress complains to CEO against YSRC

A delegation of Congress leaders on Thursday met the State Election Officer Banwarlal and lodged a complaint against the YSR Congress party.

Telangana Electricity Employees’ Association has appealed to the Chief Information Commissioner to take action against the GENCO officers, who have failed to implement Right to Information Act in their offices.

In a press release, association founder president Kishan Singh Thakur stated that they had applied for seeking information about register of wages, contract Labour , Central and State Rules in March 2011, but not received any reply.
