Hyderabad, January 10: Terming the attacks on Reliance outlets after Telugu news channels aired reports alleging foul play by Ambani brothers in YSR’s death as “unfortunate”, BJP Andhra Pradesh unit president Bandaru Dattatreya today suggested the media to adopt a code of conduct on their own.

Speaking to reporters here, Dattatreya said “though there was a law in this regard, media should have a code of conduct in telecasting any news which intends to create problems.”

Hyderabad, January 09: With normalcy and peace returning gradually in the trouble-torn Telanagana, and also in the coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, the Lok Satta Party is taking the initiative to ascertain public opinion on the political crisis and how an honourable settlement acceptable to all can be hammered out.

Hyderabad, January 09: There is definitely a vested interest in telecasting false news on who was responsible for the death of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, BJP State president Bandaru Dattatreya has said.

In a press release here today, he demanded that the government order a probe into the telecast of the news.

He appealed to the media to maintain standards of journalism in reporting news to the people and avoid yellow journalism in the competitive world of journalism.

Hyderabad, January 09: The Jana Chaitanya Vedika has alleged that the attacks on Reliance outlets across the State were part of a conspiracy to unseat Chief Minister K Rosaiah.

In a press release, the organisation’s president V Laxman Reddy condemned the stories carried out by a few news channels on the basis of a report published in the website which indulges in publishing pornographic pictures.

Mumbai, January 09: Mukesh led Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) today expressed shock and outrage over the allegations by a Telugu news channel alleging foul play by the Ambanis in the death of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and dismissed the accusation.

In a statement issued by RIL’s spokesperson, the company said that the news was false, malicious, motivated and libelous by TV5 channel concerning the fatal mishap of Rajasekhara Reddy’s helicopter.

Hyderabad, January 08: The Andhra Pradesh police today filed a case against a Telugu news channel over a report alleging foul play by the Ambani brothers in the helicopter crash and death of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, as his supporters staged violent protests outside Reliance outlets for the second consecutive day.

Kadapa, January 08: The Kadapa district Congress yesterday called for a bandh today following media reports that there is a conspiracy behind the death of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

“We want the truth to come out in the death of Rajasekhara Reddy we feel that the investigation into the death is slow we urge the people to observe bandh tomorrow to make the point that we want the truth to come out”, Kadapa DCC President Suresh Babu said.

Reports in a section of the media claimed that there is a conspiracy in the death of the late Chief Minister.

New Delhi,January 08: Having won breathing time on the Telangana issue, the Congress has begun the process of setting its house in order in Andhra by bringing around rebellious state leaders and restoring a sense of unity in the party.
The leadership has decided to pardon some of the rebels, such as Lok Sabha members Lagadapati Rajagopal and Madhu Goud Yashki, against whom it had threatened disciplinary action.

Hyderabad, January 07: A Young aspirant to film career was arrested yesterday for making mischievous and abusive calls to a popular Telugu film artiste.

Ravi Kumar (26) of Visakhapatnam, who did M.Sc in chemistry, had been continuously making telephone calls and sending abusive SMSes to Tollywood’s popular comedian MS Narayana and his son Vikram for the past 20 days. A disgusted Narayana approached the Jubilee Hills station on January 4 and lodged a complaint giving out the various telephone numbers from which the accused had been calling him.

Hyderabad, January 07: As yesterday’s Telangana talks in New Delhi failed to break the impasse over formation of Telangana State, a student from Adilabad committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room at Premnagar Colony in Erragadda on Tuesday night.

A Bhooma Reddy (24), pursuing multimedia courses at Ameerpet, committed suicide in the evening.

It, however, came to light only late in the night after one of his friends went to the room.

According to gvk ambulance service A 24-year-old youth reportedly upset over the “delay” in formation of separate Telangana state committed suicide here, police said today.

A Bhooma Reddy, a native of Adilabad district, who was pursuing a multimedia computer course in the city was found hanging in his room at Erragadda here last night, they said.

New Delhi, January 06: BJP today described the all-party meeting on the Telangana issue called by the Centre as a “100 per cent failure” and demanded that if the Congress-led UPA was serious about formation of a separate state, it should bring a Bill on the matter in the forthcoming budget session of Parliament.

“We don’t want any more meetings. The all-party meeting was 100 per cent failure,” party leader Bandaru Dattatraya, who represented BJP in the all-party meeting, told reporters here.

Reason: There was no vociferous argument in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh while the Telangana Rasthra Samithi (TRS) conveyed that it was willing to give Centre some more time to hold negotiations as long as it does not go back on its T promise.

Having heard all the parties, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has firmly kept the keys in his pocket. Indications are that the Centre may soon constitute a committee headed by a senior bureaucrat to carry forward the consultations.

New delhi,January 06:As the meeting of eight Andhra Pradesh parties convened by Home Minister P Chidambaram failed in producing a consensus on Telangana today, the Centre was learnt to be considering setting up a panel to hold consultations with all stakeholders.
The panel, which would buy the Government time to restore normalcy in the state, could be a committee of experts headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court, or a ministerial committee, or a mix of both.

New Delhi, January 06: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao today met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and discussed the issue of a separate Telangana.

“It was a satisfactory meeting,” he told reporters after a 30-minute meeting.

The TRS chief, who is spearheading the movement for the separate state, will also meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss the issue.

“I will meet the Prime Minister in a day or two,” he said.

Washington, January 05: Obesity is no less injurious to health than smoking, says a recent study.

Researchers from Columbia University and The City College of New York calculate that the Quality-Adjusted Life Years (QALYs) lost due to obesity is now equal to, if not greater than, those lost due to smoking, both modifiable risk factors.

QALYs use preference-based measurements of Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) which allow a person to state a relative preference for a given health outcome.
