Chinese Imams Forced to Dance

In another crackdown on religious freedoms, China has forced the imams of eastern Muslim majority district of Xinjiang to dance in the street, and swear to an oath that they will not teach religion to children as well telling them that prayer is harmful to the soul.

During the incident, reported by World Bulletin on Monday, February 9, Muslim imams were forced to brandish the slogan that “our income comes from the CKP not from Allah”.

Beautiful Women Need To Be Elected Politicians :Justice Katju

The former Justice Markandey Katju and former chairman of Press Council of India and erstwhile Supreme Court judge posted in social media on Tuesday that beautiful women should be elected as politicians so as to get “momentary happiness looking at her face in the media.”

He had previously made controversial statements on gay marriages and single women, claiming he disapproved of both.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Katju cited the example of new Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, who is the country’s first woman president, elected on Monday.

Women are not equal to men :Turkey president

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said women cannot be treated as equal to men, and has accused feminists of rejecting motherhood.

“You cannot put women and men on an equal footing,” he told a meeting in Istanbul. “It is against nature.” He also said feminists did not grasp the importance of motherhood in Islam.

City Haj pilgrim dies in Holy Madeena

A Haj pilgrim from the Hyderabad city, Haji Mohammed Siddique, died in Madeenah Munnawarah on Thursday morning. He was a 79 years old and resident of Chanchalguda. His funeral took place in the evening in Madeenah Munnawarah.

He had gone on pilgrimage along with his son Mohammed Nayeem on September 17, and was scheduled to return on October 23, 2014. On the instructions form the Special Officer Telangana State Haj Committee Prof. S. A. Shukoor the Khadim-ul-Hujjaj present in Madeena provided necessary assistance in fulfilling formalities. He condoled the death of the Haj pilgrim.

Jayalalithaa reaches Bangalore for verdict in DA case

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa reached Bangalore to appear in a Special Court which would pronounce judgement in the 18-year-old Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case against her, which will have huge ramifications on the state polity and her government.

Muslim Indian army cleric censured for not saying ‘Ram, Ram’

A Muslim cleric of the rank of Subedar in the Indian Army has approached the President of India, the National Commission of Minorities and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav alleging that his superior officers have censured him for using the slogan ‘Jai Hind’ instead of ‘Ram Ram’, saying the move amounts to ‘sending a message of religious hatred and extremism’.

10-year-old girl raped on Panchayat chief’s directive in Jharkhand

A ten-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour on the diktat of a Panchayat chief in Bokaro district, the police said.

The 25-year-old rape accused allegedly dragged the girl to a nearby bush and raped her on the directive of Bhopal Pasi, the Panchayat chief of Swang Gulgulia Dhoura village in Bokaro district’s Gomia police station area, at a panchayat meeting on Tuesday evening.

Both the rape accused and Bhopal were arrested on Wednesday on the basis of the girl’s statement, Bokaro SP Jitendra Kumar Singh said.

SC ruling on Shariat court draws sharp reaction from clerics

The Supreme Court’s verdict today declaring that a Shariat court has no legal sanction drew sharp reaction from Muslim clerics who said that the Constitution allows them the right to work and act according to Muslim personal law.

Zafaryab Jilani, member of the Muslim Personal Law Board, said, “We are not doing anything parallel to the judicial system and we don’t say that any order passed by a Qazi is binding on all. Our sole motto is to resolve a matter with the consent of two parties involved in accordance with Shariat.”

Snake found in mid-day meal, 54 children taken ill

A total of 54 students of a government middle school in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district fell ill today after eating mid-day meal in which a ‘snake’ was found.

Sursand block development officer Vinod Kumar said the children Meghpur Middle School at Sursand developed symptoms of nausea and fell unconsciousness after eating the meal.

They were rushed to a nearby pubic heatlth centre, given medicines and kept under observation.

None of them were in critical condition, he said.

Mosque gutted by fire in Sambhal ( U.P)

A mosque in Hayat Nagar Colony of Sambhal ( U.P) was burnt last night, enraging local residents who are demanding probe into the incident.

According to eye witness, as the mosque caught fire, local residents from around the area gathered on the spot and tried to fend off the fire but most of the articles inside the mosque have been destroyed. Fire brigade was soon called and local administration swung into action, and stopped the fire from spreading.

Coptic teacher gets 6 months in jail for ‘insulting Islam’

A Coptic Christian school teacher has been sentenced to six months in prison on charges of insulting Islam. A 23-year-old social studies teacher (Demiana Emad), was arrested on 9 May 2013 after the head of the parents’ association of Sheikh Sultan Primary School in Luxor filed a complaint accusing her of insulting Islam.

In June 2013, Emad was sentenced to pay a LE100,000 fine. Sunday’s jail sentence was ordered by the court in response to an appeal filed by the defendant on last year’s fine.

Rural Minister Gopinath Munde dies in road accident, funeral tomorrow

Senior BJP leader and union minister for rural development Gopinath Munde died this morning of a heart attack after a road accident in Delhi. He was 64.

At about 6.20 this morning, Mr Munde was on his way to the Delhi airport when an Indica car crashed into the minister’s SX4 car at the the Prithviraj Road and Aurobindo Chowk cross-section in the heart of the capital, the police said.

Tension in Muzaffarnagar after 2 Darul Uloom students shot at

Tension prevailed in the communally sensitive Muzaffarnagar district after unidentified gunmen shot at two students of Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband, critically injuring them, in Muzaffarnagar on Friday.

Mohd Mubarik and Abu Azmi were shot at by the motorbike- borne criminals near Barla in Chapar police station area when they were going to the Deoband from Muzaffarnagar on a bike, Senior Superintendent of Police H N Singh said.

The critically injured students were rushed to the Meerut Medical College, where their conditions were later stated to be stable.

He had found a satellite image of a large aircraft flying very low above the Andaman Islands on March 8 which he believes is the Boeing 777 of Malaysian airlines.

School bus attendant arrested for raping 4-year-old.

A four-year-old girl was raped allegedly by a school bus attendant, who lured her to the backseat of the vehicle on the pretext of showing her a magic trick, in neighbouring Thane district.

27-year-old Sandip Karve (27) was arrested yesterday, eight days after he allegedly sexually assaulted a KG student of an English medium school at Badlapur in the district.

“The incident came to light after the girl complained of intense pain and was hospitalised, following which the police were informed and arrested him,” said a local police officer.

Hyderabad tense over temple row, 5 MIM legislators held

Police arrested five legislators of the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) near Charminar Sunday as tension mounted in the old city of Hyderabad over a temple row.

MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi and four others were taken into custody while they gathered to ask police to stop expansion of Bhagylaxmi Temple.

The MIM leaders alleged that despite the Andhra Pradesh High Court ordering status quo, some groups were carrying out the expansion work but police remained a mute spectator.

The police arrested the MIM leaders and their followers and shifted them to Bolarum police station.
