Mumbai, June 11: Katrina Kaif, who was paired for the first time with heartthrob Imran Khan in Sanjay Gadhvi’s 7 Days in Paris, isn’t too excited about the film anymore, as the final script has turned out to be different from the one narrated to her. Changes were made in the script according to Imran Khan’s demands.

Salman Khan in mature love story

Mumbai, June 11: Sohail Khan’s next will be a love story, starring bade bhaiya Salman Khan. Sohail had earlier directed Salman in Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Auzaar and Hello Brother.

Sohail confirmed, “Yes, I’m taking my dad, Salim Khan’s help to write the love story. No one knows script writing as well as he does.” While the finer details of the love story are yet to be decided, Sohail said that it will be a realistic and mature love story. “I want to direct Salmanbhai again after I finish producing Partner 2,” he said.

Aditya skips family screening of ‘New York’

Mumbai, June 11:While Yash Raj Films is set to release their much-delayed New York on June 26, a special screening of the film caused some real-life family drama.

Aditya Chopra made only a brief appearance towards the end of screening. It had something to do with the presence of his ex-wife Payal at the screening.

India is an ‘absolutely critical country’ for US

Washington, June 11: US President Barack Obama has despatched a personal letter to New Delhi making it clear that India is “an absolutely critical country” with which Washington is keen to work, a top official has said.

US Undersecretary of State William Burns, who is in New Delhi to make the first high level contact with the Manmohan Singh government since its return to power, would be delivering the “presidential letter”, the envoy, Richard Holbrooke, told reporters Wednesday without providing details on the contents.

Convict stabbed to death inside prison

Chennai, June 11: Tension prevailed in the Puzhal prison, on the city’s outskirts, on Wednesday after life convict ‘Welding’ Kumar was stabbed to death by another convict.

According to police, Kumar and his friend, Nehru, were walking inside the prison when they spotted another inmate, Anbu, smoking a beedi. Nehru questioned Anbu as to how he dared to smoke in front of Kumar.

Anbu did not respond and continued smoking. This infuriated ‘Welding’ Kumar and he started abusing him. But when Anbu refused to heed him, Kumar drew out a knife and tried to stab him.

4 more suspected swine flu cases in city

Hyderabad, June 11: Four more suspected cases of swine flu were reported at the AP General and Chest Hospital on Wednesday.

Among the four suspects is a six-year-old girl, who came from New York on June 6 along with her parents. The second case reported is that of a 53-year-old woman, who went for a wedding to Boston and returned to the city on June 6. The third case is that of a 24-year-old student, who came to the city from Melbourne on June 8, while the fourth case is of an 18-year-old, who landed in the city on June 8.

Robbery in retired bank manager’s house

Hyderabd, June 11: Armed robbers looted Rs 2 lakh cash and 25 tolas of gold jewellery from a family at Hayathnagar on Wednesday morning.

Two of the four robbers entered the house of a retired cooperative bank manager, Sambasiva Rao at Lakshma Reddy Colony of Hayathnagar on Wednesday morning in the guise of paying advance amount for a room in his house they had agreed to take on rent. Sambasiva Rao, 70, and his wife Vijaya Vani, 60, were present in the house at that time.

OU degree pass percentage shows decline

Hyderabad, June 11: The overall pass percentage in the Osmania University degree final year showed a slight decline compared to last year, results of
which were announced here on Wednesday.

This year the overall pass percentage for the final year is 54.46. From a total of 59,073 students who had appeared for the examination, only 32,173 students could make the grade.

Couple cons man by promising him cheap flat

Mumbai, June 11: A couple was arrested by the Santa Cruz police recently for cheating an airline staffer by promising him a Mhada flat at Shivaji Park at a cheaper rate. The accused, Lahu Navle (44) and his wife Geeta (42), are residents of Prabhadevi. They had offered a flat worth Rs 30 lakh to the complainant, Gajendra Khedekar, for Rs 26 lakh.

Woman ends life over dowry harassment

Mumbai, June 11: A 26-year-old housewife from Madh village in Malad committed suicide, allegedly due to dowry harassment. Reshma Shaikh died at KEM Hospital on June 9, three days after she consumed poison at her residence.

Reshma’s husband, Amjad (27), was arrested on Wednesday on charges of dowry harassment and abetment of suicide. The police is also looking for Amjad’s mother, Farida and sisters Sammu and Naseem in the case.

Canadian woman molested on train, accused arrested

Kanpur, June 11: A rape bid was made on a 25-year-old woman of Canadian origin allegedly by a hawildar of 14 Rajputana Rifles here on Wednesday. The
victim and the accused both were travelling on Guwahati-New Delhi Sampark Kranti Express.

While the victim along with her husband was coming from New Jalpaigudi in West Bengal, the accused was coming from Assam. The incident, occurred at around 10.45 am when the train was passing through Bihar, came to light after it reached the Kanpur Central railway station at around 8 pm.

Ex-serviceman arrested for raping daughter

New Delhi, June 11: A 40-year-old ex-servicemen was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping his teenaged daughter in Sultanpuri area of outer Delhi. Police said the accused had repeatedly raped his 16-year-old daughter over the last two-and-a-half months.

The girl, a class XI student at a government college in the area, narrated the incident to her mother after which her mother took her to the police station and lodged a complaint.

Kolkata, June 11: Two hundred and sixty-eight passengers on board a Singapore Airlines flight had a narrow escape at Kolkata airport late Wednesday night when a tanker caught fire seconds before it was to start refuelling the plane.

Lovebirds commit suicide in Lambi PS

Chandigarh, June 10: Prodded into action by the enraged families of on-the-run lovebirds, cops were shocked into stunned silence on Tuesday when the
detained couple committed suicide inside Lambi police station. Ranjit Kaur, from Baazigar community, and Joga Singh, a Jat Sikh of Punjaba village near Lambi, consumed poison barely hours after they had been detained. While Ranjit died immediately, Joga succumbed in a hospital.

Hackers wipe 100,000 websites from hosting company Vaserv

Washington, June 10: An English website hosting company may have lost the data for over 100,000 websites after hackers exploited a security vulnerability in software used to provide customers with hosting facilities.

According to Rus Foster, the company’s director, hackers managed to gain access to the root level of a key piece of software the company uses to provide its low-cost virtual website solutions.

“We were hit by a zero-day exploit” in HyperVM, a virtualization application made by LXLabs in Bangalore, India.
