Hyderabad, September 20: The FCI warehouse at Jangalapalle in Anantapur is an old one, having been built in 1984. It has a storage capacity of 75,000 MT. A railway track runs alongside, making transportation easier to and from the warehouse. Rice and wheat from different parts of the country are stored here and released to the PDS.
Hyderabad, September 20: Close on the heels of the Telangana advocates agitation demanding 42 per cent reservation in the legal officer posts, the Telangana Doctors’ Forum created a flutter by demanding a split in the Andhra Pradesh Government Doctors Association (APGDA) on regional lines.
Tension prevailed at the office of the APGDA at Koti today when at least 30 members of the Telangana Government Doctors’ Association (TGDA) staged a dharna in front of the office demanding bifurcation of the APGDA and conduct of elections separately for the divided units.

Hyderabad, September 20: A B.Tech final-year student was bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat by her friend, her former senior in college, at Vanasthalipuram on Sunday night.
Police speculated that it was a case of love gone unrequited.
The assailant, Sekhar, delivered multiple blows to the victim’s head with a baseball bat in his flat at Hill Colony.

Hyderabad September 20: Expressing dissatisfaction with the replies given by officials on the EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) system being implemented in taking up works related to various departments like irrigation, panchayat raj, roads and buildings, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) today directed senior officials of the irrigation and engineering departments to submit a detailed report on the EPC before their next meeting on September 23 and 24.
The officials are preparing to make a powerpoint presentation on the EPC system before the PAC.
Hyderabad, September 20: As many as 16 people lost their lives during the Ganesh idol immersions in different parts of Andhra Pradesh Monday, police said.
Tragedy struck Ganesh festivities in Krishna district when six people were drowned while immersing an idol in a lake. According to police, the incident took place at Gollanapalle village of Gannavaram mandal.
Local fishermen fished out the bodies of the six youths, all hailing from Gannavaram.
Hyderabad, September 20: Over 120 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), barring the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, in Andhra Pradesh will be ruled by Special Officers from September 29 with the state government today deciding to defer the civic elections in the state indefinitely.
The five-year term of the elected councils of ULBs would come to an end on September 29.
The state government has decided not to conduct fresh elections to ULBs immediately as it could not fix the issue of 50 per cent reservation for women.
Hyderabad, September 20: Congress MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s controversial ‘Odarpu yatra’ will continue for over a year to cover all the districts in Andhra Pradesh, Mines Minister B Srinivasa Reddy said here today.
“The yatra will continue for another one-and-half-year or two years to cover all the districts,” Srinivasa Reddy, a close relative of the YSR’s family, told reporters.
Jagan has so far covered four of the total 23 districts in the state.
Srikakulam, September 20: A newly married girl was allegedly abducted and raped by three auto-rickshaw under Kottur Police station limits late on Saturday.
According to Kottur Circle Inspector Mohan Rao, the young woman, believed to be 16-year-old woman is the wife of one Bogesh from Kuttur. She was married in August this year.
Mr Mohan Rao told INN that the girl was waiting to catch a bus to go to parent’s residence at Narsapurpeta when she was coerced by the auto-rickshaw drivers that they would drop her.
Hyderabad, September 19: Korutla Municipal Chairman MA Gafoor was on Sunday removed from his post after a vigilance report found him involved of irregularities in the purchase of vehicles for the Corporation.
According to the order issued by Municipal Administration Principal Secretary Pushpa Subrahmaniam, Mr Gafoor was found prima facie guilty of irregularities in the purchase of tractors on behalf of the Korutla Municipality, Karimnagar.

Srikakulam, September 19: A married woman was gang-raped in Kotturu village in this district on Sunday.
According to the information, three persons waylaid the woman and raped her. Following a complaint from the victim, the police plunged into action and arrested all the three accused. She was sent to the government general hospital for medical examination and treatment. (NSS)
Machlipatnam, September 19: Four days after he was kidnapped and Rs four lakh were demanded as ransom, the body of an eight-year-old boy was found near a culvert at Musunur village in Krishna district, police said today.
Three persons, Rajesh, Sadhik, Nagaraju have been arrested in this connection, SP Hari Kumar said.
Rahul, son of an autodriver Suresh Kollipara, was kidnapped on September 14 from Nuzivudu in the district.
Suresh lodged a complaint with Nuzivudu One town police station on September 15, Kumar said.
Khammam, September 19: Some treasure hunters attempted to sacrifice a 9-year-old tribal girl at Prammalakunta village in Penuballi mandal to appease the gods. Malothu Nagakalyani and her father Rekhya were taken to Bommanapalli forest by Banothu Ramu, Bhaskar and a few others of Vachya Thanda in Kallur mandal yesterday. After entering the forest, the treasure hunters asked the girl to wear a sari and mangalasutram.
Later, they took the girl deep into the forest chanting mantras for a hidden treasure. The girl fell unconscious after walking a long distance in the forest.
Kadapa, September 19: Congress activists organised a rally from the municipal corporation office to the superintendent of police bungalow here today protesting against filing of a cheating case against mayor P Ravindranath Reddy. They alleged that some political leaders were trying to gain political mileage by defaming the mayor on the fertiliser issue in a planned manner. They appealed to superintendent of police Tarun Joshi to withdraw the “false” cases against the mayor.

Kadapa, September 19: Alleging negligence by policymakers in allocating funds for the development of the new universities in the state, the All-India Students Federation has called for ‘universities bandh’ in the state on September 24.
Disclosing this to mediapersons here today, AISF state general secretary Lenin Babu said the government had started new universities in the state to encourage higher education but forgot to sufficiently fund them.
Nellore, September 19: An 18-year-old girl, who was raped by an auto driver yesterday, committed suicide by setting herself ablaze this morning at Villipuram village near Sullurpet.
According to the police, K Malleswari (18) who was working as a sales girl in a textile showroom in Sullurpet was abducted by the auto driver yesterday when she was on her way to a Gurukula pathasala in the town to meet her friend.
The driver took Malleswari to a secluded place and outraged her modesty.
Nuzvid, September 19: The two-day kidnap drama of a 9-year-old boy ended on a tragic note today as the kidnappers murdered him.
Giving the kidnap case details, district superintendent of police P Harikumar said K Rahul, son of Kollipara Suresh and Lakshmi of Ramayammaraopeta, was a third standard student of John Karena Public School.

Hyderabad, September 18: A division bench of the AP High Court comprising Justice V Eshwaraiah and Naushad Ali on Friday partly altered its order issued yesterday regulating entry of people into the High Court. The bench has permitted senior counsels and junior lawyers to enter the court premises even if their cases are not on the cause list of the day.
The bench was hearing a suo moto petition on the need to issue directions to take steps to forthwith regulate entry of advocates and litigant public into the High Court premises.
Hyderabad, September 18: The office of the Advocate General on Friday clarified that the facts and figures it gave on the percentage of lawyers in the government posts are correct. It refuted allegations by the Telangana Advocates JAC that the AG’s office gave false information.
The Advocate General’s Office also maintained that ‘an impression is sought to be created in certain sections that the information given by the office is factually incorrect. It is clarified that the information given is strictly in accordance with the records and based on the claims of the persons appointed’.
