Newly -married woman allegedly gang-raped

Srikakulam, September 20: A newly married girl was allegedly abducted and raped by three auto-rickshaw under Kottur Police station limits late on Saturday.

According to Kottur Circle Inspector Mohan Rao, the young woman, believed to be 16-year-old woman is the wife of one Bogesh from Kuttur. She was married in August this year.

Mr Mohan Rao told INN that the girl was waiting to catch a bus to go to parent’s residence at Narsapurpeta when she was coerced by the auto-rickshaw drivers that they would drop her.

The three, identified as Vaikunta Rao (23), Kiran Kumar (25) and Ramesh (27), allegedly took her to the outskirts of the village and committed the heinous act near the Venkateshwara Swamy temple.

The victim managed to escape from their clutches and reach the Kottur police station where she filed a complaint early on Sunday.

Mr Mohan Rao revealed that the victim was terrified because of the incident and was frequently changing her statement due to fear.

She was sent for medical examination and a case registered. The three accused have been taken into custody.

Mr Mohan Rao said that charges would be suitably altered under various sections on confirmation of the rape.
