A 19 year old B Tech student committed suicide by consumed unknown poison at his residence on Saturday night hours in KPHB police station limits.

According to KPHB police, the deceased P Anivesh (19) an B Tech student Resident of Nizampet, Native of Karimnagar district had committed suicide by consuming unknown poison at his residence on Saturday night hours, immediately rushed to nearest hospital for treatment where doctors declared brought dead.

The family members of the boy told the police that he slipped into depression for last few days and might have ended his life over it.

Former Australian cricketer Stuart MacGill has ended his 14-year-old marriage with actor Rachel Friend and the couple reportedly have put their four-bedroom Neutral Bay home here up for sale.

“We’re still mates, it is amicable,” Friend was quoted as saying in the Australian media. She also added that their main focus is on their two children.

MacGill met Friend in 1999 when the one-time Neighbours star-turned-journalist was doing a story on the cricketer for A Current Affair. They later got married and have two kids, Penny and Alex.

Two Indian women referees being selected to officiate at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, in September may be a cause for celebration as the country embarks on a new phase in professional football.

Maria Rebello and Uvena Fernandes are the first women referees picked by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to supervise Asian Games matches and they are all too excited about the break they have been given.

“I am overwhelmed, this will be my first match abroad and I’m feeling very excited,” Fernandes, who received her FIFA certification badge only this year, told IANS.

The emotion recognition software analyses the video on the tiny computer hidden inside the Google eye-wear and reveals emotions.

It can gauge emotions such as anger, happiness, sadness and surprise and displays this information on screen, media reports said.

ONGC posts good 2013-14 numbers on buoyant crude oil prices

The decline in global crude oil prices coupled with gradual diesel rate hikes towards the fuel’s full market-pricing has reflected well in the 2013-14 performance of state-run explorer Oil and Natural Gas corp (ONGC).

“With the buoyancy in international crude prices and greenback strength (our revenue is US Dollar-denominated) expected to continue, there are substantive growth potential in earnings in the near-term,” ONGC chairman D.K. Sarraf said in the company’s annual report for 2013-14.

After busy day in Kyoto, Modi heads to Tokyo

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew to Tokyo Sunday evening after a busy day in the former Japanese capital Kyoto where he visited two ancient Buddhist temples and sought Japan’s help to combat sickle cell disease prevalent in tribal regions of India.

On the first full day of his five-day trip to Japan aimed at boosting economic and security ties, Modi also exchanged notes on heritage conservation with Kyoto Mayor Daisaku Kadokawa, showing him a detailed map of Varanasi, the Hindu holy city he represents in the Lok Sabha.

Celebrities like Prakash Raj, S.S. Rajamouli, Devi Sri Prasad and Satish Kaushik took to Twitter to mourn the death of legendary Telugu filmmaker Sattiraju Lakshmi Narayana aka Bapu who died Sunday following cardiac arrest.

Bapu was 80 years old. In his over four-decade-long career, he had directed 51 films, predominantly Telugu and a few Hindi too.

Spaniard Carolina clinches World Badminton Championship

Spaniard Carolina Marin stunned reigning Olympic champion Li Xuerui of China to become the first European in 15 years to clinch the women’s singles title at the World Badminton Championships here Sunday.

The World No.10, who had defeated India’s P.V. Sindhu in the semi-finals Saturday, drubbed World No.1 Li 17-21, 21-17, 21-18 in an hour and 18 minutes to notch her first victory over the top seed in four meetings.

Danish great Camilla Martin was the last European to win the World Championships in 1999 which were also held here.

Man shoots at father over property dispute in Chandigarh

A young man was arrested here Sunday for shooting at his father over a property dispute, police said.

Kesar Singh, said to be over 70 years old and a retired chief engineer from a government department, was shot at from close range by his son Harminder Singh at their house in Sector 36 following an argument over a property issue.

The victim was rushed to hospital with two bullet wounds. Doctors said he was out of danger.

Harminder Singh was arrested and booked for attempt to murder.

Delhi slums, villages to get toilet facilities

All slums and villages in the national capital will get toilet facilities soon, a government official said Sunday.

“We have decided to provide toilet facilities to all slum dwellers in all localities and slums in Delhi,” Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) chief executive Amar Nath said in a statement.

“The board has planned to spend about Rs.42 crore for creating new toilets and improving existing ones as part of its plan to improve sanitation in JJ (jhuggi jhopri) clusters,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday said he visited Japan’s ancient capital Kyoto to learn how the city had combined its cultural heritage with modern infrastructure so that it could be replicated in India.

Speaking at a luncheon meeting hosted by the Kyoto Buddhist Association, Modi said: “Kyoto is a modern city standing on a rich cultural foundation. It has successfully incorporated modern infrastructure with cultural heritage.”

“We want to build similar heritage cities in India too and that’s why I came here to learn and understand all about this city,” he said.
