Delhi slums, villages to get toilet facilities

All slums and villages in the national capital will get toilet facilities soon, a government official said Sunday.

“We have decided to provide toilet facilities to all slum dwellers in all localities and slums in Delhi,” Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) chief executive Amar Nath said in a statement.

“The board has planned to spend about Rs.42 crore for creating new toilets and improving existing ones as part of its plan to improve sanitation in JJ (jhuggi jhopri) clusters,” he said.

Nath also said that 67 mobile toilet vans with bio-digesters are planned to be provided in the congested slums.
