‘US discovery of ISI-terror links not surprising’

New Delhi, September 30: India Friday said it was not surprised that the US has now discovered Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI’s links with terror outfits including the Haqqani group, saying this was always known.

“We are not surprised that US lately discovered ISI’s link with a number of other terrorist groups. We always know that ISI has links with terrorist groups,” Chidambaram said on the latest US assessment that the ISI had links with Haqqani network in Afghanistan-Pakistan region.

Labour falls from electric pole, dies

Hyderabad, September 30: 26 year old Abdul Kareem, son of Hafeez Shaikh who was a labour by occupation accidentally fell from an electric pole and died. According to police sources Abdul Kareem resident of Shahmeerpet was busy working on an electric pole when he accidentally fell down from the pole. He was rushed to the hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. Hafeez shaikh was the native of West Bengal who had come to Hyderabad in search of work.

Violent protests in Srinagar after Malik’s arrest

Srinagar, September 30: Violent protests erupted in Maisuma locality of the city today after police detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik and some of his supporters for taking out a rally against hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.

Carrying posters and banners, Malik and JKLF activists took out a rally from Maisuma towards Budshah Chowk demanding that Guru should not be hanged, official sources said.

New Delhi, September 30: Hitting out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury, Friday, said that the opposition party is only interested in finalising their prime minister candidate for the next general assembly elections.

US drone strike kills four

Islamabad,. September 30: The assault took place in Baghar village of South Waziristan tribal district on Friday when the drone fired two missiles at a vehicle.

The US frequently carries out attacks by the unmanned aircraft on Pakistan’s tribal regions, claiming the airstrikes target pro-Taliban militants.

The aerial attacks, initiated by former US President George W. Bush, were escalated under President Barack Obama.

Relations between Islamabad and Washington have soured over the unauthorized attacks with Pakistan insisting that the airstrikes violate its sovereignty.

All-party meeting on Telangana soon, says Chidambaram

New Delhi, September 30: With the agitation for a Telangana state intensifying, Home Minister P. Chidambaram Friday said an all-party meeting to discuss the issue will be convened soon after parties from Andhra Pradesh, including the ruling Congress, convey their position to the government.

‘An important stage of consultations appears to be over. Azad (Ghulam Nabi Azad, in-charge of Congress affairs in Andhra Pradesh), will present report to the government,’ Chidambaram told reporters in his monthly interaction with the media.

Girl ends life on being rejected by the lover’s family

Hyderabad, September 30: 15 year old Nasreen Begum on Thursday hanged herself to death for not being allowed to perform marriage of her choice. The incident occurred at Shivrampally police station limits, where Nasreen Begum hanged herself to death dejected over the hindrance in her love marriage caused by the boy’s family.

Nasreen was the daughter of Raheemuddin resident of Habeeb nagar who hailed from Delhi and had settled in the city two years ago. Nasreen used to do zari work and she was in love with an auto driver named Sarwar who resides in her neighbourhood.

Saudis to be carpenters, mechanics

Jeddah, September 30: The Program of the General Administration for Strategic Partnerships, run by the General Corporation for Technical and Vocational Training (GCTVT), has announced that the number of it’s trainees has reached over 20,000.

The program works in partnership with private businesses to provide Saudi workers with skills in carpentry, refrigeration and air-conditioning, general mechanics, metal plates, construction, tile laying, plastering, scaffolds and painting, according to a report published in Al-Watan newspaper.

Sonia to take a final call on Telangana

New Delhi, September 30: The Congress finally woke up to the Telangana crisis as the agitation in the region entered the 18th day.

A day after veteran leader Pranab Mukherjee held discussions with Telangana Congress MPs over the issue, Andhra Pradesh in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad is set to submit a report on the crisis to party president Sonia Gandhi on Friday.

Azad will submit an internal party report over the Telangana crisis to the Congress president, following which Sonia is likely to take a final call on the issue.

Anwar al-Awlaki killed in Yemen

Sana’a, September 30: The US-born Islamist cleric and suspected al-Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki has been killed in Yemen, the country’s defence ministry has said.

A statement said only that he died “along with some of his companions”.

Awlaki, of Yemeni descent, was on the run in Yemen since December 2007.

The US has named him a “specially designated global terrorist” for his alleged role in a number of attacks and US President Barack Obama is said to have personally ordered his killing.

Miscreants attempt to erect pooja sthan at Seven Tombs foiled

Hyderabad, September 30: A tree was being hemmed in with the help of iron grilles at Qutub Shahi Seven tombs in the name of a specific pooja. The work had been silently continued from two days. Besides the tree, the grilles were also painted saffron. As soon as the local social activists of Golconda got the report they immediately came into action and protested against it after reaching the spot. They also submitted a written complaint with assistant director Archeology. Apart from that they also informed Golconda police and Director Archeology Channa Reddy.

Shehla Masood”s murder still shrouded in mystery

Bhopal, September 30: Shehla”s father, Masood Sultan when contacted about the progress in the case said he was not an expert to offer any comment on the CBI probe. Former district president of Congress Minority Cell, S M Salman alleged that evidences were destroyed at the initial stage of the crime. “Her cell phone was also tampered with. Mumbai, September 30: Daddy to be, Abhishek Bachchan, has denied reports that he and wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, are expecting twins.

Recently a fan asked Abhishek on twitter weather the couple was expecting twins. The fan tweeted, “Abhi, is d news of Ash expecting twins true? we r thrilled …plz reply n confirm 🙂 plz plz plz (sic).”

To this, Abhishek replied, “no, it’s not (sic)”.

Earlier, reports had claimed that the couple were expecting twins. Aishwarya is due in November.
