3153 Indians in Makkah and Madinah for Haj

Jeddah, September 30: Pilgrims participating in the Holy Haj pilgrimage of 2011 have started arriving in the holy cities of Makkah and Medinah. A total of 3153 Indian pilgrims through the Indian Central Haj Committee from various parts of the country reached in 9 flights in King Abdul Aziz Haj terminal in Jeddah and 9 flights in Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz airport in Medinah on the first day of Hajis arrival on Thursday.

Girl run over by truck

Hyderabad, September 30: An 18-year old girl died and her father suffered serious injuries after the motorcycle in which they were travelling was run over by a truck on the Chandrayangutta flyover on Friday.

According to police, 18- year-old Ashwini and her father Rataiah were riding on their bike. As the duo reache d the flyover at Chandrayangutta, a four wheeler hit them from rear side and they fell down. Soon after they were run over by a truck.

Ashwini died on the spot and her father was hospitalised with major injuries.

No extended weekend for employees

Hyderabad, September 30: Thirteenth bandh and counting. Call for bandhs in Hyderabad may have become too common for companies to take notice! Notwithstanding the Telangana political joint action committee’s call for bandh on Friday, most of the companies in the twin cities seem to have decided against letting their employees have an extended weekend holiday.

Suresh, president, IT and ITES Industry Association of AP, said that as on Thursday afternoon, the IT companies have not taken any decision to shutdown on Friday.

The first contingent of Haj pilgrims flew today

Hyderabad, September 30: The first batch of Haj pilgrims of A.P. State flew from Shamshabad airport last night which includes pilgrims from Hyderabad, Nalgonda and Mahboobnagar besides four from Karnataka earlier Mualana Khaleel Ahmed addressed the pilgrims and advised the them to observe complete humility in Medina. PM asked to go by Bal Thackeray

Mumbai, September 30: Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on Sep 29 asked Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister to resign immediately alleging that he was ‘ wearing a mask of honesty’ .

Bal Thackrey also demanded that the Lok Sabha be dissoluted.

Rape victims named in J&K House, Omar sorry

SC to get CBI report on illegal mining probe

New Delhi, September 30: The CBI, probing “illegal” mining and irregularities in the allotment of leases to Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC), is expected to submit a status report before the Supreme Court on Friday.

As per a senior CBI official, the agency is also continuing with its probe in connection with the cases relating to alleged irregularities in Emaar Properties-APIIC land deal and investments made by various companies in businesses owned by Kadapa MP and YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

Life in Manipur: LPG for Rs 1600, petrol Rs 140!

Imphal, September 30: Sixty days into the road blockade, the prices of essential commodities in Manipur have spiraled almost all-time high.

In the state, a LPG cylinder is selling at Rs 1,600 , petrol at 140 Rs a litre and diesel at Rs 80 a litre.

The two-month blockade has led to two to three times increase in prices of food items as well. Currently, a kg of potato costs Rs 40 in the market while one kg of onions is Rs 60.

Reports also suggested that the northeastern state is also facing an acute shortage of medicines as well.

Israel attacks Gaza refugee camp

Gaza, September 30: The Israeli Air Force has once again attacked the Gaza Strip, this time targeting a refugee camp in the central areas of the coastal territory.

On Thursday, an Israeli warplane fired a missile at a security checkpoint in the Maghazi refugee camp, AFP reported, citing the residents of the camp.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Last month, 27 Palestinians were killed by Israeli airstrikes on Gaza.

Cash-for-votes scam: Second chargesheet today

New Delhi, September 30: The Delhi Police is expected to file the second chargesheet in the cash-for-votes scam on Friday.

It would be important to observe whether the cahrgesheet deals only with the investigation into the role of the people involved in the scam or goes deeper to establish ownership of the cash.

However, as per reports, the police have not been able to establish the money trail and have still not indentified the owner of the money that was flashed in the floor of the Lok Sabha during the 2008 trust vote on the Indo-US nuke deal.

Nuclear-capable Agni-II missile test-fired

Balasore, September 30: India’s nuclear-capable, surface-to-surface Agni-II ballistic missile, with a strike range of 2000 kms, was on Friday test-fired as part of user trial by the Army from the Wheeler Island off Orissa coast.

The indigenously developed missile was fired by personnel of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) of the Army from Launch Complex-IV of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at about 0930 hours, defence sources said.

Mumbai, September 30: Salman Khan, who is back in Mumbai to shoot for the Bigg Boss series, which he is co-hosting along with Sanjay Dutt says that he is not 100 per cent even though his operation for his nerve disorder was successful.

Salman Khan left for the United States of America on August 29 to undergo a complicated surgery to rectify his nerve disorder. Though the surgery was successful, his pain has aggravated since he has begun shooting for EK Tha Tiger in Dublin.
