No extended weekend for employees

Hyderabad, September 30: Thirteenth bandh and counting. Call for bandhs in Hyderabad may have become too common for companies to take notice! Notwithstanding the Telangana political joint action committee’s call for bandh on Friday, most of the companies in the twin cities seem to have decided against letting their employees have an extended weekend holiday.

Suresh, president, IT and ITES Industry Association of AP, said that as on Thursday afternoon, the IT companies have not taken any decision to shutdown on Friday.

Colleges, on the other hand, are in a dilemma. Staff at the St Francis College said, “The college will function on Friday. If at all, it has to be closed, a decision will be taken depending on the situation on Friday morning.”

The textiles’ association too hasn’t taken a decision. “We have no stand on the bandh. It is left to the shopkeepers. Depending on their convenience, they can take a call,” said the AP Federation of Textiles Association.
