This was stated to mediapersons by AIMPLB spokesperson Abdur Rahim Quraishi here on Sunday. He said the Congress and Rao “cannot be absolved of responsibility” for the demolition.

40 percent rise in vegetables prices

Hyderabad,December 06: The recent heavy rains and floods in the neighbouring states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, the main source of vegetable supply to Chennai, has resulted in an increase of at least 40 per cent in prices of some of the most sought after vegetables, including onion and potato.

Vegetable vendors also point to the decline in vegetable cultivation areas and say they are giving way to real estate in many parts of the state.

New Delhi,November 09: Madhu Koda’s associate Vikas Sinha has told investigators that the entries in a diary kept by his brother Binod on payments made to politicians and Bollywood actresses, are correct. The admission, Enforcement Directorate (ED) sources said, has added a twist to the investigation.

The diary shows that the former Jharkhand CM paid at least Rs200 crore to a former Bihar chief minister and at least three Bollywood actresses were on the payroll of Koda and his associates. Vikas Sinha was arrested by the ED on November 6 and is being questioned in New Delhi.

Banglore,October 20: Investigators are probing a Bhatkal angle to the blast that killed two in south Goa on Friday. According to the police, two activists of Sanatan Sanstha, a right-wing Hindu group, were killed in Margao when explosives being ferried in their scooter went off in a traffic jam.

These explosives, investigators say, could be part of the huge cache that was seized from three men in Bhatkal on Saturday. The three — Nagaraja Somaiah Devadiga, Jettaiah Devadiga and Anand Manjunatha Devadiga — had been pedalling explosives to people involved in illegal quarrying.
