Hyderabad, August 25: In a prompt reply to the letter by Rayachoti MLA Srikant Reddy that the CLP officer was being used to discredit the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, chief minister K Rosaiah said he agreed with the observations of the Rayachoti MLA. He, however, rebutted the MLA’s allegation that he was behind the anti-YSR campaign. ”Not just you, but even I am not able to tolerate Congressmen using the CLP for this purpose,” the CM said.

Hyderabad, August 25: IPS officer Ravishankar Ayyanar, presently DIG, Karimnagar range, will be joining the National Investigating Agency (NIA) as its regional chief on deputation. The state government had recently issued orders to this effect.
Mahesh Chandra Laddha, presently deputy commissioner of police (East Zone) in Hyderabad, is also likely to go to the NIA as SP.
Tirupati, August 25: Former TTD chairman B Karunakar Reddy ended his indefinite fast today at the request of Kurtalam Peethadhipati Sri Siddheswarananda Bharati Swami.
Reddy took the lime juice offered by the swamiji at the SVRR Hospital, where he was forcibly shifted by the police in the wee hours breaking his five-day fast around 12 noon.
The swamiji said Hindu society is in need of the services of pious people like Karunakar, who made outstanding contribution to promotion of spiritualism when he was heading the TTD and urged him to give up his fast.

Kadapa, August 25: Former minster Konda Surekha was in tears at the YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s samadhi at Idupulapaya today, recalling her association with the late leader.
Keeping the ‘rakhi’ at the samadhi and seeking his blessings, Surekha said she never imagined that a day would come when she would not be able to tie a rakhi on Rajasekhara Reddy’s wrist.
After offering prayers at the samadhi, Surekha’s daughter tied a rakhi to Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy and sought his blessings.
Hyderabad, August 25: Confusion prevailed after Chenchu tribals claimed to have heard a loud explosion followed by a huge fire near Mudurallapalle in Chagalamarri mandal of Kurnool district at about 6.30 p.m on Tuesday.
Initially, there were apprehensions of an aircraft or helicopter crashing into the jungle. But they were set at rest after ATC officials at Chennai and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad said all flights that had taken off from their respective airports had reached their destinations safely.

According to a report published in a Delhi-based newspaper, a committee constituted by the ministry studied the proposal and recommended that no permission be granted for the same.

Kurnool, August 24: With the catchment areas in Tunga and Bhadra witnessing heavy rains in Karnataka, the Tungabhadra river is receiving massive inflow of flood waters at Hospet dam.
Following heavy flow of water, the irrigation officials at Hospet have lifted 22 flood gates and discharged 66,000 cusecs of water downstream on Monday.
In the wake of Tungabhadra River being in spate, Kurnool Collector Ram Shankar Nayak on Monday convened a review meeting with irrigation officials of dam and discussed the flood threat to the district.
Eluru, August 24: Fire swept through a two-wheeler showroom, destroying 15 electric two-wheelers at Elluru in West Godavari district on Monday.
According to sources, the fire was first noticed in the wee hours of Monday. Residents of the area tried to put off the fire before the arrival of the firefighting personnel on the scene.
By the time it was brought under control, the fire had turned over 15 electric two-wheelers and other accessories to ashes.
No casualty was reported due to the blaze.
Andhra Pradesh, August 23: Defying the Congress leadership again, parliament member Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday launched the third leg of his “Odarpu (consolation) yatra” in his native Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh.
The young MP began his road shows in Pulivendula constituency after paying floral tributes at the grave of his father, the late chief minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy (popularly known as YSR), at their Idupulapaya family estate.
YSR, a practising Christian, was laid to rest at his family estate after he was killed in a helicopter crash last year.

New Delhi, August 22: Taking a tough stand, the Congress high command on Saturday warned rebel party MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy of disciplinary action if he goes ahead with his controversial yatra in Andhra Pradesh.
The warning has been given by senior leader Pranab Mukherjee to Jagan, son of the late Chief Minister Y S Rajsekhar Reddy, ahead of his plan to start the ‘Odarpu Yatra’ from Prakasam district on September three, sources close to Mukherjee said.
Jagan, a known critic of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah, had met Mukherjee twice during the past one week.

Guntur, August 20: A Judge here has delivered judgements in 111 criminal cases in one day, creating a record of sorts in the annals of judiciary.
Junior Civil Judge J V V Satyanarayana Murthy of Mangalagiri town delivered the judgements yesterday, Mangalagiri Bar Association officials said.
The previous record in the country was of 80 cases, they said.
Of the 111 cases, in 78 the accused confessed to the offences, resulting in imposition of fines totalling Rs 99,500. The cases related to theft, street brawls, domestic quarrels and road accidents, among others, they said.
Kadapa, August 19: The Justice B N Srikrishna Committee today said though its recommendations on the contentious issue of separate statehood to Telangana may not satisfy all groups in Andhra Pradesh, it will take care of the interests of every citizen in the state. “It may not be possible to satisfy all the groups.
We are not here to satisfy the groups but we are here to protect the interests of citizens,” Justice Srikrishna, who heads the five-member committee, told a press conference here. The committee recommendations will take care of all regions and citizens in the state, he said.
Visakhapatnam, August 18: CPI(M) District Committee Secretary Ch Narasinga Rao has demanded that the government order, allowing the Anrak Aluminium Company Limited (AAL) to construct Nakkapalli port at Rajayyapata be withdrawn immediately.
Talking to mediapersons here yesterday, he alleged that once again the government’s plan to export Bauxite was revealed by the government order of the Nakkapalli port.
He demanded that a judicial inquiry be ordered into the issue of the proposed mining in the district.
Nizamabad, August 18: The Nizamabad district and Sessions court has directed the police to register cases against Seemandhra ministers for calling those asking for separate Telangana as “anti-nationals”.
One Mr Rajender, an advocate, has filed a case in the district & sessions court against the ministers from the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions for reportedly calling the agitators of Telangana as anti-nationals. The court directed the police to register cases accordingly.

Vijayawada, August 17: An employee of the Sri Durgamalleswara Swamivarla Devasthanam on Indrakeeladri was on Monday arrested for siphoning off the money from the hundi collections.
According to police, Ramarao was entrusted with the task of counting the money in the hundi.
He had allegedly pocketed around Rs eight thousand while carrying out his task. Ramarao attempted to avoid the frisking operations after the counting was completed.
This roused the suspicion of the temple authorities who then proceeded to search him and discovered the ill-gotten gains.
