Sanjay Dutt files review petition against SC judgement

Days after being granted one more month to surrender, actor Sanjay Dutt has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court challenging his conviction and five-year jail term in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.

The review petition against the March 21 judgement of the apex court was filed by 53-year-old Dutt on Friday and is likely to come up for hearing next week, sources said.

Wardboy rapes mentally-challenged woman, docs try to bribe kin

A 22-year-old mentally challenged woman was raped allegedly by a ward boy at a nursing home whose doctors have been arrested on charge of trying to bribe the victim’s kin to hush up the matter.

The incident occurred at Walhekarwadi in Chinchwad town near hear on April 16 in the nursing home run by Dr Vishal Sonawane (34) and his wife Dr Varsha (31) where the victim was undergoing treatment, police said today.

Angry protesters staged a second day of demonstrations here Sunday to voice outrage over the brutal rape of a five-year-old girl — storming the barricades outside the residences of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

The girl, whose private parts have suffered mutilation due to the savagery of the act, was in stable condition, said doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), adding she may not undergo any reconstructive surgery for now.

Family members and relatives of a six-year-old rape victim wento on a hunger strike on Sunday here, over a demand for justice for their daughter.

A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Nagla Kalar area in Aligarh on April 18, sparking violent protests by local residents and prompting police to use force in which at least seven persons were injured.

The father of the victim said he wanted Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to look into the matter personally and punish the culprits involved .

One-month-old baby boy ‘sold’ for Rs 1.5 lakh in Andhra Pradesh

A one-month-old boy who was allegedly sold for Rs 1.5 lakh in Nizamabad district of Andhra Pradesh has been rescued by the police, officials said on Sunday.

Two persons including the baby’s father Gangadhar, a labourer and one mediator called Linganna, allegedly sold the baby ten days ago, the Nizamabad Rural police said, quoting a complaint lodged by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) authorities.

TRS opposes Telangana iron ore for Vizag Steel Plant
