One held for accepting cricket betting

Acting on a tip-off on Sunday, sleuths of Commissioner’s Task force Central Zone Team raided a house near Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple at Chikkadpally and nabbed one person, who was accepting Cricket Bettings over cellphones from punters for the ongoing IPL T-20 Cricket Matches.

In a pressnote here today, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police of Commissioner’s Task Force P. Rameshaiah has stated that the accused was identified as M. Karunakar Reddy, 30, of Moosarambagh, Dilsukhnagar area. He stated that the accused was accepting cricket betting over cell phones from the known punters for the ongoing IPL T-20 cricket matches and for that purpose, he took a house bearing No. 1-8-487/2 near Venkateshwara temple, Chikkadapally for rent.

On a tip-off, the sleuths arrested M. Karunakar Reddy while accepting cricket betting for the ongoing match between Royal Challengers, Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals Team and seized one colour TV with Hathway Box, three cellphones and a cash of Rs 56,500. The accused along with seized material was handed over to the SHO, Chikkadpally Police Station for taking action for accepting cricket betting, he added.

The raid was conducted under supervision of Rameshaiah by A. Bhaskar, Inspector of Police, SI K. Satish and staff of Central Zone Task Force Team.
