It will be taken up in the Budget Session and we will talk to all the parties concerned,” he said.

Pakistan judicial commission to visit India in January

New Delhi, December 30: Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Friday said Pakistan judicial commission will visit India in January 2012 .

Talking to reporters after presenting his Ministry’s monthly report card, Chidambaram said: “We have informed the Mumbai High Court that Pakistani commissions desire to visits India in January and they have suggested some dates and we have asked Chief Justice of Mumbai High Court to agree and give suitable instruction to the judicial authorities.”

Lokpal bill waiting since 1968 for parliament’s nod

New Delhi, December 30: First introduced in 1968, the Lokpal bill is yet to get parliament’s nod, and faces an uncertain future with the Rajya Sabha Thursday night adjourning sine die without voting on the legislation.

The Lokpal and Lokayuktas bill was first introduced in the fourth Lok Sabha May 9, 1968, and passed the following year.

However, while it was pending in the Rajya Sabha, the Lok Sabha was dissolved, and so the bill died.

187 amendments played spoiler to Lokpal bill: Government

New Delhi, December 30: The government Friday shifted the entire blame for the Lokpal fiasco on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying the opposition with ‘an understanding with some other parties’ devised a strategy of submitting a large number of amendments to ensure the bill is held up in the Rajya Sabha.

At least ‘187 amendments were moved. The last of which was received at 6 (p.m. Thursday). That is the real story,’ Home Minister P. Chidambaram told reporters here, a day after a midnight drama in the Rajya Sabha ended in stalling the much awaited anti-graft Lokpal bill.

Heavy rain, gale in south coastal Andhra

Hyderabad, December 30: Heavy rain accompanied by strong gale lashed south coastal Andhra and Chittoor district of Rayalaseema region under the impact of severe cyclone Thane which hit the coast between Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Friday morning.

Parts of Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur and Chittoor districts have been receiving rain since the morning, officials said.
