Family sheds clothes for child’s hospital bills

Beijing, November 30: A debt-ridden family in a Chinese province opted to move out on streets without any clothes on to seek public help in paying off their baby’s hospital bill.

The incident occurred in Guandong province’s Dianbai county, the Global Times reported Tuesday, citing Nanfang Rural News.

According to the local public security bureau, the couple, who gave their surname as Zhang, came from Henan province to work at a salvage station in Dianbai county three months ago.

Hyderabad to be beautiful city

Hyderabad, November 30: The government is doing its best to make Hyderabad the most beautiful city of international standards, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has said.

Speaking at a Rachabanda programme at Hydernagar in Serilingampally Assembly constituency here on Tuesday, he said efforts were also in place to supply piped gas to households in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts.

Drinking water supply to the state capital would be augmented by bringing Godavari water and taking up the third phase of Krishna water diversion scheme at a cost of Rs 3,800 crore.

FIR filed against Salman Khan!

Mumbai, November 30: The police registered an FIR against actor Salman Khan, his bodyguard Shera and five others at Kanpur’s Kakadeo police station for allegedly assaulting anti-corruption activist Omendra Bharat, an ex-IIT-ian and chief general secretary of Jan Rajya Party.

Khan was in Kanpur on August 24 for the promotion of his film. Anti-corruption activists had crowded around Khan’s vehicle to present him a Gandhi cap and request him to join their agitation when they were allegedly beaten up by Khan’s personal security staff.

Pune, November 30: The Social Security Cell (SSC) of Pune police have arrested 52-year-Marathi actress of yesteryears for her involvement in a prostitution racket run at a row house in Orchid Palace society on NIBM road, Kondhwa.

The actress was identified as Padmaja Vishwanath Bapat has been booked under several sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act, along with two other women aged 28 and 30 who have been arrested in the case.

Arab tried to sell woman for Dh40,000

Abu Dhabi, November 30: A criminal court in Abu Dhabi acquitted an Arab woman of charges of human trade although she tried to sell another Arab girl to a secret police agent for Dh40,000, press reports said on Wednesday.

The unnamed woman was arrested in June when she handed the girl over to a police man acting as a customer but in court she denied involvement in human trade on the grounds the girl was seeking a job and she tried to help her.

Gulberg: SIT may clear ex-DGP Pande

Ahmedabad, November 30: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the post-Godhra riot cases is likely to give a clean chit to former DGP P C Pande in the Gulberg society massacre, mainly on the basis of the officer’s call records.

An analysis of IPS officer Rahul Sharma’s CDs on phone call records made during the riots — which are a crucial part of investigations — has shown that Pande was not present at Gulberg Society at the time of the massacre, as alleged, according to a senior SIT officer.

Six IM operatives arrested

Patna, November 30: With the arrests of four suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) operatives in one week, investigators believe they are close to cracking two 2010 terror cases: the low-intensity blasts outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in April and the Jama Masjid firing in September.

Ghayur Jamil and Ajmal were picked up from Sakri in Bihar on November 24 and Abdul Rahman and Mohammed Irshad Khan were arrested from Chennai on November 28.

Jamil and Ajmal were taken from Patna by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell on a Border Security Force Embraer jet while the airport was cordoned off.
