Lok Satta asks Govt to fight against uniform fee

Hyderabad, November 01: The Lok Satta Party on Monday requested the State Government to go in appeal against a judgment of the High Court stipulating uniform fees for students under both the convener and management quotas for admission to professional educational colleges.

Lok Satta General Secretary Katari Srinivsasa Rao pointed out that the decision would impose an additional burden of at least Rs 20,000 a year on BC, SC, ST, minority, and EBC students who get admission under the convener quota but whose parents’ annual income exceeds Rs One lakh.

No threat to KKR Govt, claims Botsa

Hyderabad, November 01: Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana claimed that there was no threat to Kiran Kumar Reddy Government after three Congress MLAs quit the party to join the TRS.

Talking to reporters after participating in the 27th death anniversary event of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, Botsa said that the resignation of any member would cause damage to a political party. However, he maintained that the resignation of Jupally Krishna Rao, S Satynarayana and T Rajaiah would not affect the ruling party.

City schools take CBSE honours

Hyderabad, November 01: Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir Girinagar in Kerala foiled a clean sweep by city-based schools by notching up the under-19 boys and girls team championships on the concluding of the CBSE South Zone Inter-school Badminton championship at the PJR GHMC Indoor Stadium in Chanda Nagar here on Monday.

The four-day event was hosted by DAV Public School in Kukatpally. BVM took the boys title defeating Toch Public School also of Kerala 2-1 while the girls team prevailed over the same rival 2-0.

Visakhapatnam, November 01: Handlooms and Textiles Minister P Shankar Rao on Monday stated that the State Government would implement mid-day meals scheme for weavers in the state.

Talking to media persons after participating in a programme in the district, the Minister stated that the government took a decision to implement mid-day meals programme for all weavers in the State considering their plight. He said the scheme would be implemented from November with the cooperation of weavers’ cooperative societies and labour unions.

Worldwide Unemployment Has Crossed 200 Million: ILO

Geneva, November 01: The present global economic scenario is leading to a slowdown in employment generation which will further delay the recovery and may ignite social unrest in scores of countries, warned an International Labour Organisation (ILO) report released ahead of G-20 Summit.

The report indicates that 80 million jobs need to be created over the next two years to return to pre-crisis employment rates which includes 27 million in advanced economies and the remainder in emerging and developing countries.

London, November 01: The Daily Mail today published shocking footage has surfaced of a Sudanese man being publicly beheaded in Saudi Arabia for being a ‘sorcerer’.

Crouched on his knees and blindfolded, Abdul Hamid Bin Hussain Bin Moustafa al-Fakki was executed in a car park Medina, in the west of the country, as dozens looked on last month.

The grainy footage, too graphic, shows the executioner lining his sword up on the back of Abdul Hamid’s neck, before one swift stroke decapitates him.

BJP blames officials for Gopuram collapse
