Woman from AP abducted in Sharjah

Jeddah, July 7: A woman belonging to Andhra Pradesh has been allegedly abducted at Sharjah. A woman named K Maryamma who hails from Peenukonda mandal of Godavari district has been abducted by some unidentified men on Friday. President Migrants Rights Council Mr. P Narayan Swami lodged a complaint at Indian embassy Dubai regarding her abduction.

She was abducted while she was coming out of a church at Sharjah. It is suspected that she has been shifted to flesh trading centre. Mr. Narayan Swami said that he talked to M P Singh at Indian embassy at Dubai and informed him about the incident.

Mohammad Iqbal ur Rahman appointed as president AEES

Riyadh, July 7: Association of Electrical Engineers established in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia has appointed engineer Mohammad Iqbalur Rahman as the president of the association. The chief patron of the association is Dr. Sardar Ali, and Ilyas Ahmed engineer and Mohammad Rafui Ali are chief advisors.

The association renders services through Seminars and training programmes and settles various issues of electrical engineering community.

Hyderabad, July 7: After a two-day shutdown, Telangana is now bracing for a two-day rail blockade which threatens to cut off rail links between south and north India.
A major disruption of trains is feared as the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) will block rail traffic Friday and Saturday demanding the central government initiate the process for formation of a separate state of Telangana.
The movement of trains across the region, comprising 10 districts including Hyderabad, may come to a halt.

Attempt to sell antique idols foiled

Hyderabad, July 7 (Siasat News): The city police on Tuesday apprehended four persons while they were trying to sell an antique bronze idol of goddess Laxmi which is reportedly a century old, in Moosarambagh in Malakpet.

The accused are M Bhaskar, S Peddi Raju alias Raju, M Kamalanath Reddy alias Kamal and B Jaganmohan Reddy. Their associate Madhu Charry, 32, a resident of Bhadrachalam in Khammam district, is absconding.

The accused and the seized property were handed over to the Malakpet police for further action.

Saudi crown prince for surgery in New York

Riyadh, July 07: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz has been operated on by US doctors in a New York hospital, according to a Saudi envoy.

“He is in New York; he has been operated on,” said an official with the Kingdom’s general consulate in the major US city on Wednesday without elaborating, AFP reported.

The nature of Prince Sultan’s illness has never been revealed, but analysts and diplomats widely suspect it to be cancer.

In his eighties, the crown prince has served as Saudi Arabia’s defense minister for the past five decades.

Another Telangana MP resigns

Hyderabad, July 07: Another MP from Telangana resigned Thursday, the 15th parliamentarian to do so in a bid to further the demand for separate statehood for the region.

Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) Rajya Sabha MP Gundu Sudha Rani declared that she would be sending her resignation to Rajya Sabha chairman Hamid Ansari.

Nine Lok Sabha members of Congress party and two members each of TDP and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) have already signed while one Rajya Sabha member of Congress party has also quit.

New Delhi, July 07: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) officials busted a fake flying school in Delhi. One person has been arrested and a case has been filed.

Pakistan trying to protect journalists

Islamabad, July 07: The Pakistani government was striving to provide security and protection to the journalists’ community, a minister has said.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan Wednesday told PTV that setting up a judicial commision to probe the killing of journalist Saleem Shahzad was a step in that direction.

Shahzad, 40, was kidnapped in Islamabad May 29 and his body, bearing marks of severe torture, was found dumped in a canal in Punjab province two days later.

Step motherly treatment for urdu

No supply of text book yet

Hyderabad, July 07: Mr. Nayeemullah Shareef of Mehdipatnam has written a letter to Editor, Siasat complaining about the delay in supply of school level textbooks.

Schools have reopened two weeks back but textbooks are not available. Govt. announced ‘Education fortnight’ but the ground realities are that many schools do not have buildings, furniture and teachers. Basic amenities like drinking water and toilets are not available in many schools.

Azharuddin detained in UP

Moradabad, July 07: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and Congress MP Mohammad Azharuddin were on Thursday detained by Uttar Pradesh police while they were on their way to a violence-hit village in Moradabad where restrictions are in force.

While Yadav was detained near Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border by Ghaziabad police, Azharuddin, the Moradabad MP, was picked up by police in Moradabad when he was proceeding towards Asatalpur village where an irate mob indulged in arson and brick-batting, injuring a Deputy Inspector General on Wednesday.
