Vijaywada, July 7: The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is planning to promote tourism in coastal Andhra starting from Krishna district, in a big way. As part of the plan, the APTDC has started constructing cottages and hotels at the places of tourist attraction along the seacoast.
Construction of hotels and cottages was taken up at a cost of Rs 20 crore at Manginapudi beach near Machilipatnam in Krishna district, Suryalanka in Guntur, Kothapatnam, Odarevu and Ramayapatnam in Prakasam district. Cottages and restaurants are being constructed in 15 acres of land at Manginapudi. At Suryalanka, construction of 10 more cottages was taken up in addition to the existing 10. At Odarevu near Chirala, tourist resorts are coming up in three acres of land at a cost of Rs 5 crore. Three cottages and restaurants would be constructed at Kothapatnam.
At Ramayapatnam, cottages and restaurants would be constructed at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore.
Speaking to Express, APTDC divisional manager J Raghupathi Rao said priority would be given to completion of five seaside tourism projects. Additional cottages at Suryalanka beach would be opened before the end of this month. A tourism project would also be taken up at Suryalanka, for which Union minister Panabaka Lakshmi laid the foundation stone recently.
Eight rest rooms would be constructed at Gudivakalanka in West Godavari district and a health centre would also be set up for the convenience of tourists visiting Kolleru lake, he said.
