Allegedly raped by Father-in-law

New Delhi, February 28: 22-year-old woman allegedly raped by Father-in-law in Mohanlalganj locality here, police said today.

The 22-year-old victim in her FIR has alleged that her father-in-law Radha Krishan Tripathi raped her after giving sedatives in a cold drink, they said.

She also alleged of being harassed by her in-laws over dowry.

The FIR was registered under various sections of IPC on charges of rape, dowry harassment and threatening, they said.

CM’s effort to keep away Telangana Cong MLAs from agitation fails

Hyderabad, February 28: Andhra Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s efforts to induce Congress MLAs from Telangana to give up their agitation, by telling them that the Centre would make an announcement on the separate statehood issue in the first week of March, have failed to yield any positive result.

The Congress members, who have been raising the issue and disrupting the ongoing Budget session of the State Assembly along with TRS MLAs, told the Chief Minister that they would not attend the House but would join the ongoing agitation for a separate state outside the Assembly.

Burglary at the house of American return

Hyderabad, February 28: In a grave burglary incident took place at Nacharam area the burglars broke into the house of a person recently returned from America and escaped with 5000 American dollars and other items.

Mohan Rao resident of Shanti Garden Apartment situated at Nacharam is said to have returned from America recently and had gone to Guntur to attend the marriage of his niece. He returned on Sunday only to find that the door lock is broken and 5000 American dollars, Gold jewellery and other items kept in the almirah are stolen.

Clashes kill 10 in Sudan’s Abyei flashpoint: Report

Khartoum, February 28: At least 10 people were killed in clashes between Arab nomads, militia fighters and police in Sudan’s flashpoint Abyei region, officials said, in the first report of significant violence since a tentative peace deal.

Both north and south Sudan claim the oil-producing area of Abyei, one of the most likely sources of potential conflict in the build-up to the secession of southern Sudan, due in July.

Protests against Saleh, a US ally against an al Qaeda wing based in Yemen, have spread across the impoverished Arabian Peninsula state in more than a month of protests.

BIE mulls over separate exam schedule for Telangana

Hyderabad, February 28: It is being considered to keep a separate examination schedule for intermediate students of Telangana region in order to prevent any kind of obstruction due to ongoing Telangana agitation.

Officials of Board of Intermediate Education have decided to take steps on the lines of SSC board which had conducted exams in Hyderabad and Rangareddy in April 2010. Three exams were conducted separately due to curfew in the old city area.

Cong, JDS stage walkout from Assembly over probe report

Bangalore, February 28: Opposition Congress and JDS today staged a walkout from the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in protest against the Speaker”s ruling disallowing adjournment motion on the report of a Judicial Commission which inquired into the attacks on some churches in the state in 2008.

In his preliminary submission seeking to move an adjournment motion, Leader of the Opposition Siddramaiah contended that the Christian community was feeling insecure and hurt by the report, which has not rendered them justice.

New Delhi, February 28: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday said the Budget was aimed at consolidation of fiscal deficit and moderation of taxes and will meet challenges of the economic growth of the country.

On the controversial black money issue and lack of any amnesty scheme in the Budget to bring it back, Singh said there have been such schemes in past that have yielded little success.

“I don`t think they have succeeded in providing permanent cure for black money. We need to have a systems reform in a holistic manner to deal with this menace,” he said.

Four killed in jet crash at UAE’s Al Ain airport

Riyadh, February 28: Four people were killed when a small passenger aircraft heading to Riyadh crashed shortly after taking off on Sunday from Al Ain airport in the United Arab Emirates, the state news agency said.

The UAE’s civil aviation authority said the jet, a Grumman 21T, took off shortly after 4pm (1200 GMT) but veered to the left and crashed on the taxiway.

The aircraft was destroyed by the impact and the subsequent fire, the statements said.

Gaddafi unflinching: Libyan rebel city fears counter-attack

Tripoli, February 28: Libyan rebels awaited a counter-attack by Muammar Gaddafi’s forces on Monday, after the country’s leader defied demands that he quit to end the bloodiest of the Arab world’s wave of uprisings.

Rebels holding Zawiyah, only 50 km (30 miles) west of Tripoli, said about 2,000 troops loyal to Gaddafi had surrounded the city.

“We will do our best to fight them off. They will attack soon,” said a former police major who switched sides and joined the rebellion. “If we are fighting for freedom, we are ready to die for it.”

Bahrain protesters block Parliament

Manama, February 28: Hundreds of anti-government protesters have blocked access to Bahrain’s parliament and forced officials to cancel a meeting of the ruler’s hand-picked envoys.

The demonstration appears part of a strategy to hold rallies at sensitive locations in the capital Manama. The idea is to boost pressure on the monarchy following two weeks of marches and clashes that have left seven dead.

The parliament became a target Monday to coincide with a meeting called by the 40-member upper chamber, which is appointed by Bahrain’s ruler.

Lecturer’s scolding drives student to suicide

Hyderabad, February 28: A degree student resorted to suicide when her lecturer scolded her for not completing the project work.

SR Nagar Police told that Priniti who was the student of degree was scolded by her lecturer for not finishing the project work assigned by the later.

Distraught by the incident Priniti consumed large number of medicines available at the house and died.

Police recovered a suicide note in which she disclosed this.

Shiv Sena vows to beat Jaitapur N-plant supporters

Mumbai, February 28: The Shiv Sena on Monday warned that the advocates of the multi-billion-rupee Jaitapur nuclear power plant would be beaten up with slippers wherever they travel in the Konkan region for crushing the voice of those opposing the project.

New Delhi, February 28: Lauding Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee for presenting a balanced Budget, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday said that the Budget matches challenges faced by the economy.

“It is certainly important to curb inflammatory expectations; finance minister has done a commendable job by planning to reduce fiscal deficit,” PM said.

He also congratulated the FM for maintaining a high growth rate despite the adverse international economic climate, while praising it is a reformist Budget.

TRP ratings of Zor Ka Jhatka is dipping steadily every week

Mumbai, February 28: Reality show “Zor Ka Jhatka” hosted by King Khan is receiving the lowest TRP ratings.

Its opening week had a dismal viewers rating but with every passing week this is falling steadily.

This is indeed the show that has received the lowest TRPs till date Rakhi Sawant stated “My Rakhi Ka Insaaf on the same channel (Imagine) had more viewership than Zor Ka Jhatka”.

She declared “Ek dum Zor Ka Jhatka laga hai!”

Zor Ka Jhatka had a debut rating of 2.6 TVR and on its very second week unable to attract audiences, its TRP dropped to 1.7 to 1.4 TVR.
