Washington, May 15: The recession might be a little less painful for some Americans, who won’t lose their prescription medications if they lose their jobs.

Pfizer Inc. said Thursday it will give away more than 70 of its most widely prescribed drugs, including Lipitor and Viagra, for up to a year to people who have lost jobs since Jan. 1 and have been taking the drug for three months or more. The announcement comes as the unemployment rate topped 8.9 percent in April.

No face veil for Muslim women on Danish buses

Muslim women who wear the face veil in Denmark will now have to bare their faces when their travel passes are being checked, Arriva — one of the country’s leading transport operators — said Tuesday.

“All bus companies have recently come to an agreement on this point as it is normal that passengers holding photo travel passes should identify themselves to the driver or the conductor,” Arriva spokesman Martin Wex said.

Bajaj Hindusthan issues warrants to promoters

MUMBAI, May 14: Sugar producer Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd (BJHN.BO: Quote, Profile, Research) on Thursday said its board has approved issuing 14.5 million warrants to the promoters.

The warrants entitle its holder to one share each at a price of a minimum of 52.14 rupees each.

Shares in Bajaj Hindusthan were trading up 0.38 percent at 106.50 rupees in a weak Mumbai market.

Teen gang raped before being hanged by assailants: Police

Lucknow, May 14: The teenaged girl allegedly hanged by six men here on Monday night in her residence was first gang raped by them, police sources said on Wednesday.

The autopsy report of the minor girl has revealed that she was first gang raped before being hanged to death, the sources said.

Police have not made any arrests in connection with the incident so far. A senior police official said they have developed some clues and were working on it.

Arrest warrants against Prabhakaran, Pottu in Kadirgamar case

Colombo, May 13: Tamil Tiger supremo V Prabhakaran and his intelligence chief Pottu Amman were on Wednesday issued fresh arrest warrants by a Sri Lankan court in connection with the assassination of former foreign minister Lakshman Kadirgamar, who was killed by a suspected LTTE sniper team in 2005.

This was the second time this year that the Colombo High Court had issued open warrants for arrest against the two LTTE leaders in the Kadirgamar case.

The court had earlier on January 26 issued the warrants for the two fugitives, also wanted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

CIA and ISI together created Taliban, says Zardari

Islamabad, May 11: In a new revelation, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the CIA of the United States and his country’s ISI together created the Taliban.

“I think it was part of your past and our past, and the ISI and CIA created them together,” Zardari told a television news channel in an interview.

In the interview, which was given on 7th May, Zardari also accused the US of supporting the military rule of Pervez Musharraf who was alleged to be taking sides of the Taliban.

Depressed Inter student commits suicide

Hyderabad, May 11: An Intermediate second year student of Sri Chaitanya Junior College, Aushapur, committed suicide by hanging himself in the college bathroom on Sunday afternoon.

Ch Santosh Kumar, 17, of Korutla in Karimnagar district, was pursuing Intermediate II year (MPC stream) at Sri Chaitanya residential junior college in Aushapur village of Ghatkesar police limits.

After finishing classes at 12.30 pm, Santosh walked into a bathroom in the college premises and hanged himself with a plastic wire.

FISH KORMA RECIPE

Ingredients:

1 kg fish
1/2 cup curd
1/2 cup onion paste
2 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tbsp coriander paste
6 cardamom
1 inch cinnamon
2 tsp salt
3/4 cup ghee or oil
6 green chilli
2 tbsp kewra
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice

Preparation:
Use large fish for korma.
Do not cut the fish into too small pieces.
Carp is great for Korma.
Except for the green chilles and kewra, add all the rest of stuff into the cooking dish. Mix well. Heat covered in low heat.
Turn over the fish once (be careful).

Teacher gifts student grenade on her wedding

Phnom Penh, May 11: Cambodian police arrested a 37-year-old high school teacher after he allegedly sent a homemade hand grenade as an anonymous wedding present to a former student, local media reported Monday.

Police said Moung Chhavry admitted to sending the grenade to the bride, who he claimed to have had a relationship with when he was her grade 10 teacher, the Phnom Penh Post reported.

But the 21-year-old bride told police she had rejected his advances and was shocked to see her former teacher after he was arrested.

Moung faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

India may come under pressure from US to sign NPT
