Six foreigners, two US marines killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, July 14 (DPA) Six foreign civilian contractors were killed in a helicopter crash Tuesday in southern Afghanistan after two US marines were killed in an insurgent attack in the same region, officials said.

The contractors were killed in the Sangin district of Helmand province, a NATO spokesman in Kabul said.

“We can confirm that all six contractors on board were killed in the incident,” said the spokesman, who asked not to be named.

New York, June 24:A sex tape starring American drama TV series “Gossip Girl” actress Leighton Meester has sparked a bidding war on the Internet, touching the $1 million mark.

Hollywood.com reports that Kevin Blatt, the dealer behind socialite heriess Paris Hilton’s sex tapes, has said he is surprised by the level of interest in the footage, as the bids for the Meester video have exceeded $1 million.

Blatt also revealed that the footage features a younger Meester performing a striptease for a boyfriend.

Techie cuts cook’s husband into pieces, arrested

New Delhi, June 24:A 26-year-old software professional was arrested Tuesday for allegedly murdering the husband of his cook, with whom he had illicit relations, Delhi Police said.

Rahul Dev, who is from Bokaro in Jharkhand, was arrested when he was stuffing his victim Diwakar Choudhary’s body into a gunny bag in his rented house in Pitampura in northwest Delhi around 2.30 a.m.

Police said Rahul, who is currently jobless, first slit Choudhary’s throat and then stabbed him with a butcher’s knife.

New Delhi, June 21:A Darjeeling-based couple did a “Bunty Aur Babli” on two Archies outlets in the capital, conning them in the style of the hit Bollywood movie. The accused couple has been arrested, police said Sunday.

Sushant Dhillon, 38, and his wife Kajal, 28, were arrested Saturday for allegedly cheating Archies galleries in Connaught Place and Jwala Heri markets.

They were arrested after a complaint by Sumit Pal Soni, who runs the Archies Gallery in Connaught Place, in central Delhi.

BJP plateauing even in its strongholds: Advani

New Delhi, June 21:Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani Sunday expressed concern that the party was “plateauing” even in its strongholds, while stressing on the need to expand its base in several other big states and strengthening the organisation.

Michael Stich, an expert commentator with BBC Radio 5 Live and the 1991 Wimbledon champion, said the role of female tennis stars is as much about “selling sex” on court as it is about their sporting prowess.

The Mail on Sunday newspaper said Stich made the comment Saturday night during an argument over the loud grunting of many of the game’s top women.

Hyderabad, June.21:- The City Traffic police has restricted movement of vehicular traffic from June 21 to August 4 in the Old City in connection with the construction of flyover at Langar Houz.

According to the Traffic police officials, the heavy vehicles, including buses and military trucksl, would not be allowed from the side of Moghal-ka-Nala towards Langar Houz and from Fateh Darwaza and Talab Katta towards Langar Houz.

Minor raped by cousin and his friend in Punjab

Mohali (Punjab), June 20 (IANS) A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her cousin and his friend in a Punjab village, police said Saturday.

“The accused took the victim to a vacant house on the pretext that her friends were waiting there for her. They managed to flee from the village after committing the crime,” said Dalbeer Singh, station house officer of Kharar town, which is 10 km from here.

The incident took place in Chandu village near Kharar.

I year polytechnic diploma courses from june 29

Hyderabad, June 20:The classes for first year Polytechnic Diploma courses will commence from June 29.

The Secretary, State Board of Technical Education and Training, Mr P T Prabhakar, in a press release here on Saturday, stated that all the candidates who got admission through CEEP-2009 examination should pay the requisite fees on or before June 25 and report to the principals of the respective Polytechnics on or before June 29.

The candidates, who failed to pay the fees and report at the institutions before the prescribed date would forfeit their seats, he added. (NSS)

Hyderabad, June 20:A free medical camp for women will be held at the Indus Hospitals, located near the Gaddi Annaram Municipal Office and opposite Kothapet fruit market on June 21 from 10 am to 3 pm.
