CPI discusses strategy for GHMC Poll

Hyderabad, June 20 (NSS): -The CPI State Council, which met here on Saturday, held a post mortem on the performance of the party in the recent general elections and discussed strategy to face the coming GHMC elections.

The national CPI general secretary, Mr A B Bardhan, and senior leader, Mr D Raja, arrived here to participate in the meeting which was held in Makhdhoom Bhavan.

The meeting had an in-depth discussion on the poor performance of the party in the State. He also examined and analyzed the poll results booth-wise to know whether the CPI(M) votes were transferred to its candidates or not. Majority of the members at the meeting expressed dissatisfaction over the attitude of the CPI(M) leadership in cooperating to the party candidates. The Mangalagiri controversy also figured in the discussion.

The meeting also focused on the preparation of future plans of the State council to wage a war on the issues of the common people. The meeting also discussed the possible alliances and strategy to be adopted in the coming GHMC elections. It also decided to concentrate on the twin cities and take up movement on the issues of the slums in the city, which consist heavy vote bank.

Speaking to the mediapersons on the sidelines of the meeting, the CPI State Council member, Mr Ramakrishana said that the meeting would go through the election results and discuss the measures to strengthen the party.

The CPI national deputy general secretary, Mr Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, the State secretary, Dr K Narayana and others attended the meeting. (NSS)
