BJP plateauing even in its strongholds: Advani

New Delhi, June 21:Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani Sunday expressed concern that the party was “plateauing” even in its strongholds, while stressing on the need to expand its base in several other big states and strengthening the organisation.

“It is a matter of concern that our party seems to be plateauing in some states, which are our strongholds, and have actually suffered big reversals in some others,” Advani said in his concluding remarks at the party’s two-day national executive here.

Besides the areas of its strength, he said: “Additionally, there are several big states where our political base continues to be small, and our electoral presence is narrower still. These weaknesses have to be overcome.”

He said the other area that required “serious attention” was the party organisation at the state and the national level.

“The state of the party organisation at all levels, including at the centre, needs to be improved. We have to strengthen unity in thought, unity in planning and unity in execution in leadership tiers at the centre and in states,” Advani said.IANS
