Mumbai, June 15: Another news on Bollywood biggies Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan has hit the headlines hard.

The Maharashtra State Labour Ministry has approached Aamir to campaign against child labour. Following his inability to campaign for the cause, the state government is now eyeing Shahrukh.

State Labour Secretary Kavita Gupta revealed that they took a while to meet and discuss the idea with Aamir, who they think is ideal for the campaign. They met him after the elections and vacation with his kids were over but unfortunately he turned down the offer.

Shahid-Natalie are sexiest vegetarians

Mumbai, June 15: Being a Vegetarian can have its advantages. Just recently actor Shahid Kapoor has been voted the Sexiest Vegetarian in Asia, in the poll conducted by PETA in their Asia Pacific portal and the battle for the top slot carried on for a month.

The final results were announced on 10 June, 2009. Shahid shares this honour with Hollywood star Natalie Portman, who was awarded the sexiest vegetarian in the USA region.

Angry fans burn Dhoni’s effigy in Ranchi

Ranchi, June 15: Angry over Team India’s defeat in the ICC World Twenty, the cricket fans in Ranchi, the home town of Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni burnt his effigy to protest India’s exit from the T20 World Cup.

The defending champions are out of the title race following successive defeats in matches against the West Indies and England. Around 50 cricket fans, mostly youth, gathered near Siddo Kanhu park and shouted slogans against Dhoni and burnt his effigy.

Ravi Poojary associate held in City

Banglore, June 15: Harish Tolar, a close aide of underworld don Ravi Poojary, was arrested by the City Crime Branch police in the early hours of Sunday, after an encounter.

Tolar, 33, who sustained injuries on his leg, has been admitted to Victoria Hospital and is stated to be out of danger.

The police launched a search operation after being tipped that Tolar was hiding in the City. They had also received information that Tolar was likely to pass through the Jnanabharati premises on Sunday morning in his car (KA 05 D 5542). A police team arrived near Jnanabharati and waited for him.

Mumbai, June 15: While Salman Khan happily helped brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri in his first direction, Hello—based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller One Night At A Call Centre—he isn’t willing to repeat it for Atul’s second film.

Salman had made a guest appearance in Hello along with Katrina Kaif and brother Sohail Khan, which helped the film. But now, with Sallu himself struggling for a hit to bolster his career, he is in no mood to do favours.

But it was not so. Deo, who has also signed up Imran Khan — the only known name — for the film, is reportedly disappointed with his starry tantrums.

Rather than concentrating on his acting, Imran, like mamu Aamir Khan, is interested in giving instructions and inputs to the entire crew, including Deo.

New Delhi, June 15: MG Vaidya, a top Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologue has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of failing ‘Hindutva’ by being ‘inconsistent’ on the ideology.

“The BJP has failed to convey the real meaning of ‘Hindutva’ to the people (in the recent elections). Probably, they thought they were not deemed to climb the pedestal of power with ‘Hindutva’ line. Hence, BJP should now disassociate itself with ‘Hindutva’,” Vaidya wrote in a column for the Marathi daily Tarun Bharat.

Police clueless to what drove NRI to kill wife, himself

Ludhiana, June 15: There has been no headway in the gory incident at Jaspal Bangar village where an NRI shot dead his wife and then killed himself with his licensed single barrel rifle in the wee hours of Saturday.

The post mortem on the bodies of the deceased NRI, Sardool Singh (65) and his wife Paramjit Kaur (62) was conducted at the Civil Hospital and then their bodies were handed over to their relatives for cremation.

2 more jail cops deny ’05 fight between Rajan and D-gang men

Mumbai, June 15: Two more jail employees, said to have witnessed a fight between aides of gangsters Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan in the Arthur Road prison in 2005, have turned hostile in court, denying any such incident took place.

A police sub-inspector had been injured but he too has turned hostile. The last remaining witness in the jail alarm case is investigating officer Nankishore Potkare, who will be examined on June 22.

Kiran Rao was rushed to Breach Candy hospital with high fever

Mumbai, June 15: A phone call on Friday night announced, “Kiran Rao has been rushed to Breach Candy hospital.

She has been diagnosed with high fever and some lung infection.”

This news was exactly a week after reports of Mrs Aamir Khan expecting her first child.

The following day, a source from the hospital confirmed on condition of anonymity.

“Yes, Kiran was brought in, and is under care here. The doctors suspect tuberculosis. She is undergoing treatment.”

Surat, June 13: A 17-Year-old schoolgirl was kidnapped from the Majura Gate area and gangraped by three youths in a moving car in broad daylight on Friday.

The police arrested all the accused later in the day and seized the Opel Corsa car used in the crime. Two of the accused are sons of policemen.
