Hyderabad, July 22: Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi on Wednesday requested the Maharashtra government to extend an invitation to Andhra Pradesh for a dialogue on the controversial Babhli irrigation project and allow an all-party delegation from the state to inspect the site.
Hyderabad, July 21: The Telangana Congress senior leader and MLC, Mr Yadava Reddy, has said that he would write to the UPA chairperson, Ms Sonia Gandhi, and the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, urging them to direct the Maharashtra government to allow all-party leaders from Andhra Pradesh to visit the Babli project site before July 26.
Hyderabad, July 21: Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday said that the Supreme Court will hear the final arguments on the illegal constructions on the river Godavari as part of the Babli Irrigation Project on August 16. He said that raising the issue in such a manner as adopted by the Telugu Desam Party, at such a critical juncture, is not going to benefit the state government’s arguments.

Vijayawada, July 21: Condemning the excessive behaviour on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) delegation led be former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu by the police in Maharashtra, CPI(M) State Committee member Y Venkateswara Rao today demanded the Centres intervention in the controversial issue of the Babli project.

Warangal, July 21: The TDP supporters attacked the convoy of Mr V. Hanumantha Rao, Congress Rajya Sabha member, while he was on election campaigning in Raghunathapally of Warangal district. As the TDP supporters rained stones and eggs on the car in which the MP was traveling, the police rushed to the sport and resorted to lathi charge.

Hyderabad, July 20: Expressing concern over the attempts of some people to inflame passions over the Babli project in Maharashtra, chief minister K Rosaiah today appealed to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu to call off his agitation and return to Andhra Pradesh.
Referring to the threat by a leader in Visakhapatnam that Marathas in the state would be targeted if Maharashtra did not stop construction of illegal projects, Rosaiah said such a stand would put the lives of lakhs of Telugus living in Maharashtra in peril.
Hyderabad, July 19: Normal life was affected in parts of Andhra Pradesh Monday due to a shutdown called by the main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to protest the arrest of its chief N. Chandrababu Naidu in Maharashtra.
The strike evoked mixed response in the state capital and 22 other districts. State-owned Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) had to partially suspend bus services here and other towns following protests by TDP activists.

Hyderabad, Jly 18: Telugu Desam Party has called a bandh in Andhra Pradesh on Monday in protest against the arrest of party president N Chandrababu Naidu and 74 legislators by Maharashtra police.
TDP senior leaders in Hyderabad held an emergency meeting at the party headquarters here this evening and finalised the action programme. They also had a teleconference with Chandrababu Naidu who was remanded to two days judicial custody by a court in Dharmabad in Maharashtra.

Hyderabad, July 17: In order to sensitise schoolchildren, teachers and school managements on fire safety, mock fire drills were conducted in 11 schools in the twin cities on Friday.

Banglore, July 17: The Survey of India (SOI), which was asked by the Supreme Court to identify the boundary between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh following allegations of altering the border by the Reddy brothers of Bellary, has sought proper data and maps from both the states to complete its task.
In a affidavit filed today deputy secretary-general (survey) RK Meena blamed officials of the two states for the delay in identifying the inter-state boundary and asked the court to direct both the states to provide mutually agreed inter-state boundary or to provide revised lease, sketches.
Panaji, July 17: Andhra Pradesh’s anti-Maoist force, Greyhounds, will train 45 Goa policemen to tackle internal security scenarios and carry out anti-terror operations, police said on Saturday.
Deputy inspector general RS Yadav said the Goa policemen would receive their training at Himatsagar, an Andhra Pradesh-based Greyhound training academy.
“Goa is not really affected by Maoism. But the training by Greyhounds will help us to use the force for internal security purposes and to carry out anti-terror operations,” Yadav said.
Nanded, July 17: A shutdown was observed on Saturday in Dharmabad town in Maharashtra’s Nanded district to protest the agitation led by Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu against construction of the Babli Dam, which Andhra Pradesh fears will affect its water supply, an official said.
Naidu and his supporters, who were arrested on Friday, are likely to be released and escorted to the Maharashtra-Karnataka border on Saturday.
Hyderabad, July 17: The Congress ruled out disciplinary action against its MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy who embarked on his controversial yatra despite the reservations expressed by the high command.
“No action. It is all your imagination,” Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily in-charge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh, told reporters here when asked about the possibility of initiating disciplinary action against Jagan.
