Oscar for Best Picture to now have 10 contenders

Washington, June 25: The Oscar for the Best Picture, the most-sought after honour in Hollywood, will have 10 contenders from next year instead of the short list of five so far, a media report said Thursday.

The Los Angeles Times called it “the new Academy Awards era” as it reported Wednesday’s “out-of-the-blue” announcement that the Best Picture category at the Oscars will double in size to 10 films.

Mumbai, June 25: During the shoot for his upcoming Film “New York”, John Abraham was quite the dare-devil as he decided to do his own stunts even though the director and stunt-director had briefed him with the risks involved in the shot.

But John was unaware of how this risky stunt would turn into an incident he would narrate to his friends later.

Apparently the director Kabir Khan, was not happy that the movie had a few stunts, so he decided to add a few more, one of them included John hanging out from a 20th Floor window.

Its too late to make movies on 9/11

New Delhi, June 25: Hollywood has highlighted it, so have others. But the Hindi film industry has barely touched upon 9/11 as a theme, with Kabir Khan’s ‘New York’ coming eight years after the tragic incident in the US.

Experts say it is too ‘late’ to make a film on the subject even as the film is set to be released Friday.

‘ ‘New York’ is belated…it has been nearly eight years since the incident happened. The Mumbai film industry is very late in reacting to this kind of a storyline…The topicality of such a theme is lost because of the delay,’ film historian Gautam Kaul told IANS.

The teenager who plays Hermione Granger in the hit movie franchise would be willing to axe her film career if she can’t find other fulfilling roles.

“I don’t have a burning passion for acting. Until something comes along that I feel as strongly about as I did Hermione – like, I felt that it was life or death – I don’t want to act again,” she said.

Oscar winner is accused of raping 11 women

New York, June 25: Oscar winning composer Joseph Brook, 71 has been arrested on charges of raping 11 women between the ages of 18 and 30 whom he lured into his apartment with promises of film roles, reported The New York Times.

The musician who won the Academy award for his 1977 hit You Light Up My Life sexually assaulted the young aspirants, many of them from the Pacific Northwest, after enticing them with promises of a Hollywood career through the advertisements on Craigslist and a talent website, said the report quoting Robert M. Morgenthau, the Manhattan district attorney.
