Mumbai, March 11: John Abraham says the best thing to happen to him in 2008 was his brother’s marriage. And the most unusual happening in his life in 2009 could be his first stage performance, thanks to the success of his Desi girl number in Dostana.

“My brother’s marriage in Romania was beautiful. Standing there at his wedding as his best man as he took the vows with his wife in a beautiful old church I felt so content. I was never happier. And I liked being the best man. Because I’m the best. People ask me where I’m going from here. And I tell them, I’m only going to get better.”

London, March 01: Just months ago she was a virtual nobody, but with the eight Oscar sweep by her debut film “Slumdog Millionaire”, Indian model-turned-actress Freida Pinto is now hot property for magazine covers. Being the obvious new darling of Hollywood, Freida has also become a much in-demand magazine cover girl back home for obvious reasons, reports dailymail.co.uk.

The actress will dominate the newsstands across India in March, with men’s magazine Maxim opting to put her face and knock-out body on its cover, as will women’s magazines Cosmopolitan and Vogue.

Mumbai, March 01: Bollywood stars Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra were declared the best male and female actors respectively at the glittering 54th Idea Filmfare Awards ceremony here late Saturday night.
Hrithik won the award for essaying the role of Emperor Akbar in “Jodhaa Akbar”, while Priyanka walked away with the black lady statuette for her performance in “Fashion”.

“Jodhaa Akbar” pipped “Dostana”, “Ghajini”, “Jaane Tu.. Ya Jaane Na”, “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”, and “Rock On!!” to bag the best film trophy, while the best director award went to Ashutosh Gowariker for “Jodhaa Akbar”.

Mumbai, February 28: Indian actress Freida Pinto Made it to the U.S. without doing the same old song and dance.

Though the 23-year-old former model from Bombay auditioned for melodramatic Bollywood roles, she’s going Hollywood with her film debut, playing a child of the ghetto in Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire. Hood never looked so good.

How hard is it to break into India’s film industry?
It’s really difficult. You have to have a godfather or parents who can get you in. I got into modeling for the visibility factor, hoping that portals would open up for me to act.

Mumbai, February 25: Delhi-6 was surprisingly a big disappointment from Rakeysh Mehra after the brilliant Rang De Basanti . Somehow Mehra’s handling of social issues through the monkey-man metaphor didn’t gel well with the audiences.

Moreover audiences were expecting the world from Mehra post RDB. Clearly they came out of the hall disappointed. No doubt, the director attempted something different but couldn’t connect with the audiences seamlessly.

says he roped in Hurman Baweja for the lead role instead of Aamir Khan because the senior actor would not have fitted the character of a young boy.
