Hyderabad, December 4: Maulana Azad National Urdu University’s, Civil Services Coaching Academy has extended the last date for admission into coaching for UPSC Prelims upto 10th Dec. 2010.

According to Prof. Amina Kishore, Professor Incharge, MANUU – CSE Coaching Academy, in the view of public demand the admission date for prelims has been extended.

70 schoolkids fall ill after being given iron tablets

Lucknow, November 03: As many as 70 students of a primary school in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district were hospitalised Friday after they fell ill on consuming iron and de-worming tablets given by government medical staff, officials said. All the students are now out of danger.

Over 100 students of the government-run Durgapur Primary School were administered the tablets in a health camp organised at school between 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

State government’s pre-matric scholarship

Hyderabad, December 3: As per the report of Mr. Ahmed Basheer Uddin Farooqui retired Deputy Educational Officer, the last date for renewal of state government pre-matric scholarship is December 5 and the last date for submitting first time applications is December 15.

However before that all heads of the institutions (government, aided and private) are required to get their respective schools registered at Minority Finance Corporation and get ID number and password then only the students can apply online.

BHU student suspended for posting obscene content on Facebook

Varanasi, December 02: Posting vulgar remarks against his female batchmates on the popular social networking site Facebook has landed a final year student of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi district in trouble.

The university administration not only suspended Gaurav Ranjan for three months, but also debarred this native of Jharkhand from taking admission to any other course in the BHU in future.

Northeastern students’ rally to protest BPO staffer’s rape

New Delhi, November 28: Scores of students and others from the northeast living in the capital will hold a protest rally at Jantar Mantar Monday to protest the gangrape of a BPO staffer from Mizoram earlier this week and demand speedy justice.

The rally will be organised by the Delhi Mizo Students Association and will begin at 1 p.m.

Employees of universities to hold rally

New Delhi, November 28: Non-teaching employees of about 200 universities from across the country have decided to stage a rally here on December 1 to press for enhanced allocation to the education sector and UGC pay scale for them.

The ‘march to Parliament’, being held under the banner of All India University Employees’ Confederation (AIUEC), would also seek to draw attention to the issue of “saving university education from the onslaught of private and foreign direct investment,” said AIUEC representative Bhabani Hota.

30,000 Indian students have left Australia: Student federation

Thiruvananthapuram, November 27: A spate of attacks, tough visa norms and denial of permanent residency have caused around 30,000 Indian students, mostly based in Melbourne, to leave Australia in the past year, claims the Federation of Indian Students in Australia (FISA).

The figure is quoted in the latest issue of Indian Student, published from Melbourne, a copy of which is available with IANS. The magazine in its editorial says it appears Australia is no more a favourite destination for Indian students with this huge exodus in a year’s time.

Siasat Talent Search examination on November 28

Hyderabad, November 27: 13th Siasat Talent Search examination is being conducted for tenth class students in English, Telugu and Urdu languages by Siasat daily in collaboration with MS Education centre. This exam will be conducted in 9 districts of Andhra Pradesh including Hyderabad. The exam will be conducted on November 28, 2010 from 2 to 3:40 pm.

The purpose of the exam is to search the talent of the students and to guide them towards proper direction.

29 Nov. last date for CLISC fee payment

Hyderabad, November 26: Director Public Examinations Government of Andhra Pradesh in a press note stated that CLISC examinations for regular and failed candidates will be held in the months of December 2010 and January 2011.

The last date of payment of fees by the candidates to the heads of the institutions is November 29 and the last date of payment of fees with a fine of Rs. 60 is December 6, 2010. Exam fee is Rs 150.

Tatkal scheme for payment of Inter exam fee

Hyderabad, November 24: Intermediate first and second year students of regular and private streams who have not paid their examination fee for March 2011 exams before the due dates can pay the fee under Tatkal Scheme from November 24 to December 12.

Tatkal fee Rs 500, 1st year exam fee Rs 220, 2nd year exam fee Rs 220, 1st and 2nd year examination fee Rs 440, practical exam fee as prescribed, attendance exemption fee (Arts only) Rs 500 and cost of exemption and exam application from Rs 10 + Rs 10.

60 teams take part in IGNOU school quiz contest

Kochi, November 23: Sixty teams from across the city took part in the multi-city inter school quiz organised by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Tuesday.

IGNOU vice-chancellor V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai said the university was promoting school education in its silver jubilee year, with outreach events like a science olympiad and special awards.

The IGNOU Kochi regional director, K.S. Divakaran Nair, said that ‘Ignite’, the quiz show, was organised to increase awareness about distance learning method among school students.

Army recruitment rally for Telangana districts

Hyderabad, November 23: An Army recruitment rally will be conducted by Army Recruiting Branch, Trimulgiri for the posts of various trades for the eligible candidates from the Telangana Districts of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Medak, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy from 1st to 6th December at Ambedkar Stadium, Karimnagar.
Eligible candidates should be between the age group of 17 years and six months to 23 years. Their height should be not short of 162 centimeters and weight not less than 48 KGs.

Parents’ job not must for nursery school admission

New Delhi, November 23:Schools granting nursery admission on the basis of parents’ professions will not have it easy this year.

Several institutions in the Capital found guilty on this count were let off with just a warning last year. But this time erring schools will have their admission process cancelled.

This will find specific mention in the fresh admission guidelines to be issued by the state directorate of education to all the schools around the first week of December.

Postponement of exam: Ministers go into a huddle

Hyderabad, November 21: With protests rocking Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions over the postponement of the written examination for SI recruitment, the State government has launched measures to bring back normalcy in the regions. Ministers from the regions convened an emergency meeting in the chambers of revenue minister D Prasada Rao to discuss steps to calm down the protestors and cooperate with the State government to maintain peace and order besides charting out a plan to ensure smooth conduct of the written examination.

Exams only when state is peaceful: Sabitha

Hyderabad, November 21: Home minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy today declared that the written test for recruitment of sub-inspectors of police will be conducted only after ensuring peace in the State. She defended the State government’s decision to postpone the examination stating that the government acted responsibly and took the decision respecting the sentiments of people in the Telangana region.

B.Ed candidates call off stir

Hyderabad, November 21: Putting an end to the two-day stir, the B.Ed candidates selected under DSC 2008 climbed down the Directorate of School Education building at Saifabad here tonight. They came down after panchayat raj minister B Satyanarayana promised to take up their demands with chief minister K Rosaiah and resolve them at the earliest.

Classes in AMU’s Murshidabad campus from January

Ahiran (West Bengal), November 21: Classes in the Aligarh Muslim University’s (AMU) campus in this rural belt of Murshidabad district will start from January, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said here Saturday.

‘The classes will begin from this academic year itself in January. The AMU will initially work out of a big rented building which also has residential facilities for students,’ Mukherjee said after laying the foundation stone of the campus here, about 60 km from district headquarters Bahrampur.

First management aptitude test to be held Feb 20

Chandigarh, November 21: The All India Management Association (AIMA), the apex body for the management sector, has launched a Management Aptitude and Skills Test (MAST) to evaluate management students across the country, a senior AIMA official said here Saturday. The first test will be held Feb 20, 2011.

Punjab Technical University (PTU) vice chancellor Rajneesh Arora said that the MAST was important for management students.
