India fully supports cause of Palestinians: Sushma Swaraj

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today said that India’s policy is clear on Gaza crisis and that the country fully supports the cause of Palestinians.

“India’s policy is very clear on the ongoing issue in Gaza. We fully support the cause of Palestinians but we have good relations with Israel,” said Swaraj.

Earlier, U.S Secretary of State John Kerry said that US and India can and will be indispensable partners of the 21st century, at the fifth Indo- US Strategic Dialogue.

CBI arrests two railway officials in Hyderabad

CBI today arrested two railway officials for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh in return for favouring a school teacher in a vigilance case against him in Hyderabad.

CBI sources said K Nageshwar Rao and K Narasimhulu were arrested by the agency while they were taking the alleged bribe money of Rs 1 lakh in cash and Rs 2 lakh in cheque from a Railways school teacher based in Secunderabad.

Kerry calls for ‘constructive chapter’ in climate change

US Secretary of State John Kerry Thursday said his country was looking forward to a “new and constructive” chapter with India in the area of climate change.

“Climate change is here with us now, extreme weather and scarce resources endanger human health and prosperity,” Kerry said during a media interaction here with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already stated the urgency of this issue.

Libyan clashes spread to downtown Tripol

Deadly clashes in Libyan capital Tripoli have gradually spread to the city centre from its international airport.

Intense fighting between rival militias has been raging Thursday in Gergarish Road, one of the crucial highways linking the city centre, Xinhua reported citing a witness as saying.

Heavy shelling and gunfire has also been heard in Souq al-Jum’aa district in the eastern part of Tripoli, another witness said.

The recent surge in fighting between Islamist fighters and pro-secular militia around Tripoli International Airport has left at least 97 people dead and 404 wounded.

Sena asks Centre to ease norms for using loudspeakers on Ganesh Utsav

Shiv Sena has asked the Centre to increase the number of days for relaxation from noise pollution control norms which allows loudspeakers to be used till 12 pm instead of the usual 10 pm.

With Ganesh Utsav round the corner, Shiv Sena wants the norms to be relaxed from the present 15 days to 30 days annually so as to benefit all religions.

A memorandum to this effect was given by Shiv Sena MPs Rahul Shewale and others to Union Environment and Forests Minister Prakash Javadekar.

Replicate TN Model of nativity: Jana Reddy

Leader of Opposition in Telangana Assembly and former minister K Jana Reddy today opined that Tamil Nadu model is apt for resolving the nativity issue.

APSRTC Employees of both states to go on strike from tomorrow

With the talks between APSRTC management and Employees Union failed over refund of Rs 250 crores to the employees cooperative society on Thursday, the EU leaders announced that they would go on strike from August 2.
During the parleys held in the Bus Bhavan here, the APSRTC management made it clear that it cannot refund the money under the present circumstances. The EU leaders criticized the management for utilizing the workers’ amount and walked out of the meeting. Naidu plans to field Narayana in Council poll

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is reportedly considering fielding Urban Development Minister Narayana in the State Legislative Council elections which will be held next month.
Narayana, who runs several educational institutions, is not a member of either House and became a minister in Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet. Elections for vacant seats in the AP Legislative Council would be held on August 21 and a notification is likely to be issued on August 4. (NSS)

Centre grants one tribal university as against many for AP

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education has decided to establish one Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), National Institute of Technology (NIT), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Central University (CU) and one Tribal University (TU) in the State of Andhra Pradesh. In the State of Telangana, one Tribal University (TU) has been decided to be established. This is in accordance with the 13th Schedule of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.

Charges framed in case of murder of woman techie from AP

The sessions court today framed charges against the accused in the case related to rape and murder of a woman software engineer from Andhra Pradesh.

“The court framed charges against Chandrabhan Sanap for rape, murder and destruction of evidence under the Indian Penal Code and he has pleaded innocence,” said his lawyer Prakash Salsingikar.

The trial may start next month, he added.

Mumbai police’s crime branch arrested 28 years old Sanap in early March, nearly two months after the murder of the 23-year-old woman who worked with TCS.

Mild tension in Purana Pul over defiling of religious place

Mild tension prevailed in Purana Pul area of Old City here in the early hours after a religious place was allegedly desecrated by some unidentified persons even as police arrested one person in connection with the incident.

1st batch of 200 nurses from Libya to return home tomorrow: CM

In the first phase of evacuation of Keralite nurses from strife-torn Libya, a total of 200 nurses will return home tomorrow, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here today.

Addressing a meeting convened by Non Resident Keralites Affairs (NoRKA) with heads of various hospitals to discuss issues related to nurses who returned from Iraq recently, he said the first batch of 200 nurses had registered with NoRKA and expressed willingness to come back.

They will start their return journey tomorrow, an official release said.

Even as a controversy over collection of Motor Vehicle tax on vehicles entering Telangana from Andhra was resolved with the intervention of Hyderabad High Court, yet another controversy raging between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments over the conduct of EAMCET.

Though the APSCHE issued a notification for certificate verification for conducting EAMCET, Telangana Education Ninister G. Jagadish Reddy asked the students not to attend certificate verification stating that a separate counseling for Telangana students would be conducted.

Telangana govt names veterinary varsity after PV Narasimha Rao

Telangana government today decided to name an agricultural university after Telangana ideologue Prof K Jayashankar and a veterinary university after former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao.

The agricultural university, being named as ‘Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University’, was Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University in undivided Andhra Pradesh.

A Government Order (GO) was issued in this regard today.

Telugu actor Mukku raju is no more

Veteran cine actor Saagiraju Rajamraju, who was familiar as Mukku Raju, died due to ill-health at his residence here.
Mukku Raju started his career as choreographer and ended up as an actor, particularly in the roles of singer. He acted in more than 100 Telugu films and played important roles in movies directed by “Red Star” R Narayana Murthy. He started his career in 1940 with the Telugu film “Oka Gramam”. He also acted in “Erra Sainyam, Ore Rikshaw, Cheemala Dandu” movies, which were directed by Narayana Murthy.
