Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh today stood by his comments that Rahul Gandhi lacked the temperament of a ruler, a statement the party’s rivals had used to say Rahul was not prime ministerial material.

He also said there would be “some critics” in the Congress but that “does not stop us from supporting him”.

“I will never go back on my words. Why don’t you give him the credit of winning elections in 2004 or give the credit to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi when they won in 2009? Why do you want to play up only one thing,” he told TV channels.

Minister Javadekar finds late-comers during surprise check

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar Monday paid a surprise visit to his ministry premises at 9.15 a.m. and found many officials absent.

He asked late-comers to furnish a day’s casual leave and “gave strict instructions to maintain decorum of office and be on time”, said a statement.

The Narendra Modi government has been strictly implementing a directive that officials report on the dot at 9 a.m. and stay for longer hours.

BJYM activists protest in front of Assembly, police resort to lathicharge

Activists of BJP youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, on Monday clashed with police during their protest against poor law and order situation in the state in front of Assembly while it was in session, forcing the cops to lathicharge and use tear gas shells.

Several people, including policemen, got injured during brick batting between BJYM activists and police, and vehicle of a news channel was damaged, police said.

The lathicharge on BJYM workers evoked strong protest by BJP MLAs in Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha forcing its adjournment for the day.

France presses new govt on Rs 60,000 crore Rafale deal

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, the first top-level dignitary from France to meet the new Indian government, today pushed for early purchase of the multi-billion dollar Rafale combat aircraft during his meetings with Defence Minister Arun Jaitley and his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj.

Batting for the fighter aircraft, Fabius said France hopes that with the new government, which was keen on efficiency, the implementation of the decision will be swift and expressed confidence of a “positive outcome” to the ongoing negotiations in the deal.

AP CM requests banks to reschedule agriculture loans

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today requested banks to “reschedule” agriculture loans so that he could eventually keep the promise of a loan waiver.

“We should not rub farmers on the wrong side. I will give clarity on the loan waiver in two or three days. Request bankers to first reschedule all agricultural loans,” he said addressing a meeting of the State Level Bankers’ Committee.

He asserted that his government would implement the loan waiver as promised to farmers.

Pawar meets PM to discuss poor monsoon situation

NCP chief Sharad Pawar today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the wake of poor monsoon so far in the country and sought urgent measures to tackle the situation.

According to sources, the former union agriculture minister informed the Prime Minister about the poor rainfall situation in South-Western India, including Maharashtra.

The Centre will put in public domain all information it gets about black money stashed in foreign banks, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday.

“The government will put all the information it gets regarding black money in public domain when the time comes. We will take steps keeping in view the international and national laws,” he told reporters.

Singh said constitution of Special Investigation Team on black money immediately after the formation of the government was an appreciable step.

Bengal Governor Narayanan quits, state government ‘deeply pained’

West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan has resigned, becoming the fourth governor appointed by the erstwhile UPA regime to quit before the end of their term since the BJP-led government took office last month.

Confirming the development, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee told the media that the 79-year-old Narayanan’s last day at work will be Friday.

Director Matt Reeves says he had spent over a year at a digital studio to shoot over 1000 apes scenes involving special effects to make the whole experience as realistic as possible in his film “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”.

A technical crew of hundreds at Weta digital studios in New Zealand laboured for a year to composite some 1,200 special effects shots just of the apes, far more digitized animals than in the first movie, Matt said in a statement.

France confident of $20 bn Rafale deal as Fabius arrives in India

France Monday pushed for a larger defence partnership with India as its Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius Monday touched base with the new Indian government and voiced confidence that the $20 billion deal for the purchase of 126 Rafale combat jets would be inked soon.

Fabius, who held talks with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj and later Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, said he was “very confident” of the Rafale deal being sealed.

Explain open defecation: NHRC

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Monday sought an explanation from the central and state governments over the lack of toilets which lead to open defecation in the country.

“We have sought reports from the secretary, union ministry of drinking water and sanitation and the chief secretaries of all states and union territories within four weeks on the issue of defecation in open and lack of toilets,” said an NHRC official.

Citing a survey which said 30 percent of the women who defecated in the open were sexually assaulted, the commission expressed concern over the issue.

Over 400 militants killed in military operation in Pakistan

At least 412 militants and 17 soldiers have been killed so far in the military operation against terrorists hiding in the country’s north-western tribal regions bordering Afghanistan, the Pakistan army said Monday.

According to the statistics released by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), a mouthpiece of the Pakistan army, as many as 376 terrorists have been killed in the restive tribal region of North Waziristan, an area believed to be the last safe haven of militants in Pakistan, Xinhua reported.

Amarnath Yatra to start from Pahalgam route Wednesday

The annual Amarnath Yatra, which began from the Baltal route in north Kashmir June 28, will also start from its traditional Pahalgam route Wednesday, the shrine board announced.

“At a high level meeting, chaired by Governor N.N. Vohra at Raj Bhavan today (Monday), it was decided that the Pahalgam-Chandanwari route shall be opened for the Amarnathji Yatra on Wednesday, July 2,” said a statement issued by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB).

PineApple 1 cup
Yogurt 1 cup
Milk 1/2 cup
Caster Sugar 2 tbsp
Vanilla Ice-Cream 3 scoops
Ice 1 cup
PineApple Essence 2 drops
Yellow food color 2 drops
Pineapple Whipped Drink Method / Tarika:

Blend pineapple, yogurt, milk, caster sugar, vanilla ice-cream, ice, pineapple essence and yellow food color in the blender.
Blend well for 1-2 minutes then the Serve.

Kalay Chanay Ki Chaat Recipe

Ingredients :

Black chickpeas/Kalay chanay (bOiled) 1/2 kg
Chilli flakes to taste
Spring onion (chopped) 1 cup
Green chillies
Tomato puree 1 small can (or 3 Tomatoes)
Lemon juIce 2 tbsp
Coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Oil 1 tbsp
Kalay Chanay Ki Chaat Method / Tarika:

In a pan heat some oil.

Add tomato puree, chilli flakes, green chilli and salt mix well.

Put chanay and fry for a while.

Add lemon juice and spring onion.

Garnish with coriander leaves, spring onion and papri.

Ready to serve.

Badami Dahi Baray Recipe

Ingredients :

1 cup White lentil
1/2 cup Yellow lentil
3 Garlic Cloves
1/2 inch Ginger
1 kg Yogurt
2 tbsp Sugar
1 tbsp Ginger chopped
8 Almont chopped
1 cup Tamarind paste
1/2 tbsp Dry Garlic powder
1 tbsp White cumin (roasted, crushed)
to taste Salt
pinch Black Salt
1/2 tbsp Chat masala
1 tsp Sweet soda powder
for frying Oil
Badami Dahi Baray Method / Tarika:

Strain all the water from soak lentil, grind with garlic onion and mix soda in it.

In a mixing bowl mix yogurt, pinch salt, corn flour, sugar and milk. When cool, add salt and black salt.

I&B officials found coming late to office by Prakash Javadekar

Many officials of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry were taken to task after Minister Prakash Javadekar, who in a surprise check early on Monday, found them lacking in punctuality.

Official sources said Javadekar reached Shastri Bhawan at 9 am and by 9.30 am began making rounds of the offices of the ministry and found that several officials had not reached the office while some sections were empty.
