Modi’s online chat leads to server crash

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi interacted with netizens online on Google Plus hangout on Friday. However, the online session was disrupted for few minutes after the Google server cashed due to huge traffic.

Iranian first n-plant running at ‘full capacity’

Iran’s first nuclear power station has begun operating at full capacity, a Russian firm said Friday.

The plant’s launch in August 2010 prompted Israel and other nations to express fears the reactor could help Iran creat an atomic bomb. Tehran has denied the allegations, saying the facility was for peaceful power generation only.

The plant was connected to Iran’s electricity grid in September, 2011.

UP cops accidentally kill youth

A chase for two chain snatchers by the police in Rae Bareli turned awry Friday night when a youth was shot dead in a shootout, police said Saturday.

The incident happened when a team of Special Operations Group (SOG) was pursuing two chain snatchers in Lodhipur Uttrawan village. Rae Bareli is 77 km from here.

When the duo abandoned their vehicle on a roadside and escaped in the fields, the police opened fire in which a 22-year-old youth, Dharmendra, was killed.

Aarushi-Hemraj case: Painter refutes CBI claim

A witness in the Aarushi Talwar-Hemraj double murder case on Friday refuted the CBI’s claim that he painted the flat soon after the crime, leading to destruction of evidence.

During cross-examination at a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court, Shohrat, a painter, said he painted the Jalvayu Vihar flat of Aarushi’s parents in Noida in July 2009, a year after the murders were committed there.

‘Robbed’ couple meets CM after cops crack case

It was pleasant surprise for Chaturvedi couple as they stood outside the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s residence here and Akhilesh Yadav came out to meet them and congratulated them for having helped police nab robbers.

The couple, Suchitra Chaturvedi and her husband Ajay Chaturvedi, reached the residence of the chief minister on Friday after the Lucknow Police succeeded in catching the accused who had robbed her purse five days back.

When informed about their presence outside the residence, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav took out time from his busy schedule to meet them.

29 killed in Nigerian road accident

A total of 29 people were killed in a road accident in Nigeria Friday, reported Xinhua.

According to Nigeria’s road commission, the accident occurred on the Potiskum-Kano road in Yobe state when two buses coming from opposite sides had a head on collision.

The buses went up in flames after collision, killing 29 passengers and charring nine of them beyond recognition, said an official with the Federal Road Safety Commission, adding reckless driving and over-speeding caused the accident.

New radiation emission norms for mobiles effective from today

Radiation emission from mobile telephone towers will be reduced to 1/10th of the present level from Saturday, a decision aimed at addressing public health concerns.

Also, the handsets to be rolled out from domestic manufacturing units or to be imported will have reduced absorption capacity, as per the new guidelines.

The minimum distance of a tower (with two antenna) will be 35 meter from a residential building. There are over seven lakh towers for mobile phones throughout the country.

R’Seema State Not In BJP Agenda: Kishen Reddy

The State BJP president G Kishan Reddy has made it clear that separate Rayalaseema State proposal was not in his party’s agenda.

Maharashtra: 4 injured in LPG cylinder blast

Four persons, including two senior citizens, were seriously injured when a cooking gas cylinder exploded at a residence here this afternoon, police said.

The incident took place at a bungalow in Bangar Nagar here, police said, adding that the intensity of the explosion was such that the walls collapsed.

The injured were identified as Sadashiv Lokhare (68), his wife Padma (65), their daughter-in-law Tanuja (28) and their neighbour Keshav Mandale (60). They have been admitted to a local hospital and are said to be in a critical condition, police added.

Ajmer shrine’s pir invites Pak PM to visit dargah

Bilal Chishti, the ‘Pir’ of the famous Sufi shrine at Ajmer in India, called on Pakistan Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Friday and invited him to visit the shrine.

Chishti met the premier at the Prime Minister’s House this evening. He was accompanied by Mian Aziz-ur-Rehman Chan, a top leader of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party from Punjab province. He invited the premier to visit the Ajmer shrine.

Ashraf accepted the invitation and said he would visit Ajmer at “the first available opportunity”, said a statement from the premier’s office.

Pakistan Taliban beheads 12 soldiers

Pakistani Taliban have beheaded 12 soldiers captured during a recent attack on a security check post in the restive Bajaur tribal region and released a video showing their severed heads, a militant spokesman said on Friday.

Sirajuddin, a spokesman for the Swat chapter of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, told reporters in the country’s northwest by phone that the militants had released a video showing the severed heads of the soldiers.

Facebook friend sends obscene msgs, demands Rs 5 lakh from girl in Delhi

A factory employee was arrested here for sending obscene text messages to the family of a girl who rejected his marriage proposal, and attempting to extort Rs.5 lakh by blackmailing them, said police Thursday.

Waseem Akram, native of Najibabad in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested from north Delhi following investigations into a complaint filed by the brother of the girl in June this year.
