Kuwaiti woman pours hot tea on British diplomat’s wife

A woman ordered tea a restaurant in Kuwait then rushed with the hot cup towards the wife of former British ambassador in the oil-rich Gulf emirate and poured it on her head, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The British woman, who was among a trade delegation visiting Kuwait, was rushed to hospital with burns in the face and body, Alwatan said.

Police said they were investigating the case to identify the woman who fled with another lady just after she splashed the hot liquid on the Briton.

Rs. 5 lakh stolen from ATM

(Siasat News): A notorious but young thief stole Rs. Five lakhs from the ATM of Axis bank in Saifabad police station limits. Police has released a photograph of the thief and appealed the general public to provide vital information about the thief to the police.

As per the details, the thief entered the ATM cabin of Axis Bank situated opposite Banjara Function Hall, Masab Tank.

Six hurt in 15 blasts across Pakistan province

Islamabad, May 02: At least six people were injured in 15 blasts across Pakistan’s Sindh province on Wednesday, a media report said.

Four blasts targeted the ATM machines of National Bank in Anaj Mandi, Fatima Jinnah Road, Naseem Nagar and Latifabad No7 of Hyderabad town, reported Geo News.

Old age and Widow’s pension only Rs. 200?

Siasat had drawn attention of the authorities on the meager amount of pension that is being given to widows and old age persons. This pension was fixed at Rs. 200 Pm eight year back. During this decade, the prices have gone up by 200%.

Indian American Vikram J Singh has been appointed to a key Pentagon position to take care of South and Southeast Asia, it was announced here.

Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced the Department of Defense Senior Executive Service appointments and reassignments.

Singh was appointed to the Senior Executive Service and was assigned as deputy assistant secretary of defense for South and Southeast Asia, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Policy).

He previously served as special assistant, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Policy).

An Indian law dating back to the 1960s states that those travelling to India are supposed to pay tax for carrying any gold valued at more than Rs20,000 (Dh1,379).

One killed as fire engulfs Nashik mall

A security guard was killed early Wednesday in a major fire that broke out at a furniture mall in the city here, police said.

Around 3.45 am, the blaze engulfed the Sakhala Furniture Mall near the highway at Mumbai Naka, an official of Nashik Police Control said.

Eight fire tenders and water tankers were rushed to the site and they succeeded in controlling the fire after around four hours.

Security guard Prakash Solanki was apparently trapped and his charred remains were found in the morning, the official said.

Investigations are on to determine the cause of the fire.

By election in AP – One Lok Sabha and 18 Assembly candidates finalized by Congress

Congress has almost finalsied its candidates for one Lok Sabha and 18 Assembly seats. Mr. T. Subarami Reddy, sitting Rajya Sabha MP will contest from Nellore Parliamentary seat.

From Anantapur, Mr. Rasheed Ahmed has been nominated for Assembly seat. Congress is likely to nominate Mr. Sama Rao for Parakal Assembly seat in Warangal. The supporters of Govt. Chief whip demanded to nominate Jyothi, wife of Govt. Chief whip from this constituency.

B.Ed failed candidates get another chance

(Siasat News)Addl. Controller of Examinations of Osmania University Dr. Venkateshwarlu informed that all those candidates who have failed in various subjects of B.Ed form 2003-2004 to 2008-2009 will get another opportunity to appear in the examinations.

He further informed that the last date of submission of applications for examinations is 15th May. The candidates have to remit Rs. 1000 per paper towards fees which will be in addition to the prescribed examination fees.
