Row with husband over attending marriage, wife ends life

Hyderabad, December 4: Row between husband and wife over attending marriage function of a relative led to wife’s death. The incident occurred at Yacharam police station limits where 22 year old Dasri Lavannya committed suicide.

Lavannya was the wife of Shekhar resident of Yacharam. Two days ago the couple had a row over attending relatives’ marriage function.

Anxiety for not filling up Unani Medical Officers’ posts

Hyderabad, December 04: Dr. A A Khan, President Unani Medical Officers’ Association, releasing a press note said that Chief Minister has been making announcements for providing jobs to unemployed youths which is a welcome gesture.

Indian Medicines Department issued notification in 2008 for filling up 98 vacant posts of Unani Medical Officers but so far the list of the selected candidates has not been released.

Jagan suppoorters will vote against Govt.

Hyderabad, December 04: After meeting the President of Y S R Congress, 22 suporters of Jaganmohan Reddy decided to vote against the the Govt.. They declared that they are not bothered about any disciplinary action to be taken against them for violating the Congress whip.. It may be noted that after T D P moved ‘ No Confidence Motion’ Jaganmohan Reddy cut short his tour of Guntur and rushed to Hyderabad. He convened a meeting of his supporters in which 22 members w ere present.

Person booked for threatening the financier

Hyderabad, December 04: Police Afzal Gunj registered a case against Abdul Rauf, resident of Sayeedabad and others for threatening autorickshaw financier Mahinder Singh Bagga, resident of Gowliguda .

Abdul Rauf is an accused in the murder case of Harin Pandiya, former Minister of Gujarat.

Gujarat High Court had released Abdul Rauf recently. He is said to be absconding. His other associates are also not found in the city. After registering the case, Afzal Ganj Police has started search operations for them in the city.

Even after completion of life imprisonment many prisoners are not released

Hyderabad, December 04: In various prisons of the country, there are many prisoners who have completed the life imprisonment period and some are under trial prisoners.

Majority of them are the Muslims. In this connection, Sachar Committee also presented in its report that there are many Muslim prisoners whose cases are petty. Many of them are so poor that they can’t afford to engage a lawyer for submitting bail petition. Most of them are ignorant of the system of getting a bail. Govt. grants clemency to many prisoners on the occasion of the Republic Day every year.

T-Cong MLAs to vote against No Confidence Motion

Hyderabad, December 04: Congress party MLAs from the Telangana region on Sunday stated that they would vote against the No Confidence Motion moved by Telugu Desam Party against the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government in the assembly.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, MLA K Lakshma Reddy said that the MLAs from the region, in principle, have decided to vote against the No Trust motion and protect the government. The Congress MLAs, who were elected on party’s `B’ form, would lose their post if they vote in favour of Trust Motion violating the party whip, he pointed out.

Ostrich ‘sex change’ flummoxes Hyderabad zoo

Hyderabad, December 04: While a leopard cannot change his spots, ideally an ostrich shouldn’t change its sex. But it seems the unthinkable has happened in Hyderabad’s Nehru Zoological Park.

Nearly a year after their procurement from Dubai, the park authorities in India have suddenly discovered that its popular ostrich couple is not a couple after all, but in fact a pair of male birds.

The ostrich pair was purchased in June 2010 at Rs300,000 from a bird dealer, who in turn sourced birds from the emirate, according to Times of India.

New Delhi, December 04: India’s innate fascination with gold continues as Indian households hold gold worth over %950 billion which in turn is around 50% of the country’s GDP in dollar terms, says a report. Gold consumption is part of India’s culture and tradition and the country is the world’s largest consumer of gold, followed by China.

Indian households hold 18,000 tonnes of gold which represents 11% of the global stock and worth more than %950 billion, around 50% of India nominal GDP in dollar terms, says global research firm Macquarie.

Congress, TDP, TRS issue whips to legislators

Hyderabad, December 04: The ruling Congress and the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Sunday issued whips to their legislators on the opposition’s no-confidence motion in the assembly.

While Congress directed all its 153 members in the 295-member house to vote against the TDP’s no-confidence motion, the main opposition party asked its 86 legislators to back the motion when it comes up for voting Monday. TRS also asked all its 12 MLAs to be present in the house and vote for the motion.

MIM Blackmails To Get Mayor Post

Hyderabad, December 04: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation mayor Banda Karthika Reddy was reluctant to step down from her post and was firm on continuing in the post for at least another one year.

Even Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana was bargaining with the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen that the Congress wants to retain the Mayor post for another one year, after which it would be handed over to the MIM.

However, all of a sudden, Karthika agreed to resign from the post and Botsa declared that it would be given to the MIM.

Hyderabad, December 04: The friction between PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana and chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is coming out in the open. Close on the heels of his showdown with the chief minister at the cabinet meeting on November 30, the PCC president on Friday sought to undermine the programmes that Kiran Kumar Reddy had taken up, saying that at ground level very few people knew what they were all about and what the objectives of the programme were. “If the programmes do not yield results, it will do more damage than good to the party,” he said.

Boy raped on top of building

Kuwait, December 04: A 10-year-old Kuwaiti boy who was asked to do a favour for an Arab man did not have to wait for long to be rewarded. Minutes later the boy was raped.

The unknown man, apparently stalking a victim in Houli area in the oil-rich Gulf emirate, asked the boy to help him find a friend in the building where the lad lives. He took him to many floor and knocked at many doors.

“The man then told the boy to try the last floor…when they were there, he forced him up to the top of the building and threatened to kill him,” Al Anba daily said.

Sharad Pawar escapes ceiling fan falls

Jabalpur, December 04: Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today escaped unhurt here after the ceiling fan on the dais from where he was addressing a seminar, fell. The ceiling fan which was not properly fit above the dais suddenly fell about 4-5 feet away from the place where Pawar was addressing the seminar.

It may be recalled , Mr. Harvinder Singh slapped Sharad Pawar for not controlling the rising prices of essential commodities exactly a week ago.

‘Two J Dey articles angered Rajan’

Mumbai, December 04: In the 3055 pages-long charge sheet filed in the J Dey murder case, Mumbai police have submitted three confessional statements.

In total, 176 witnesses were examined in the case. Volume 1 of the charge sheet contains the FIR, while Volume 2 consists of a panchnama, ballistic report, postmortem report and identification parade which together total 334 pages. The charge sheet also includes statements of witnesses and mobile phone records.

85-yr-old grandma strip searched, injured at JFK airport

New York, December 04: Authorities at the JFK Airport here strip searched an 85-year-old grandmother, who says she now plans to sue the agency for the humiliation and injuries she sustained during the process.
