Reduce power cuts to domestic sector: CM

Hyderabad, December 28: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed the energy officials to reduce power cuts to domestic consumers.

The Chief Minister reviewed the power position in the state with the energy officials at the camp office on Wednesday.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that they will be able to reduce power cuts within next two or three days. They also informed that Kakatiya Thermal Plant in Bhupalpally which was closed due to technical problems has restarted on Wednesday. As a result production of 500 MW will be added from Thursday.

Organiser among three held in brothel raid

Hyderabad, December 28: The Asifnagar police have arrested three persons including a woman for operating a brothel house in Muradnagar area.

According to police, the alleged brothel house organiser Nisha Khan (45) and her son Syed Nadeem (25) were arrested during a raid conducted on Tuesday night. A customer, Ali Saleh Al-Jaber, was also arrested by the police.

Nisha Khan shifted from Moghalpura to Muradnagar about one week ago and started a brothel house at her residence. On a tip off, police conducted the raids and arrested the accused.

Horrible: Babysitter chops baby up into pieces

New York, December 28: A babysitter and trusted neighbor has confessed that he bludgeoned a 9-year-old Indiana girl to death with a brick then dismembered her, hiding her head, hands and feet at his home and dumping the rest of her remains nearby, police said on Tuesday.

Allen County sheriff’s investigators said in an affidavit that 39-year-old Michael Plumadore admits he killed Aliahna Lemmon on Dec. 22.

Israel, US conspire to draw up ‘red lines’ for Iran

Jerusalem, December 28: Israel and the United States are in the process of drawing ” red lines”, which when crossed would justify a pre-emptive strike on Iran’s nuclear installations, a media report said.

Israel’s ambassador to Washington, Michael Oren, had filed an official complaint with the US administration following a speech by Secretary of Defence, Leon Panetta, a few weeks ago warning against a military strike on Iran, triggering the current development, the Daily Beast website said.

4.5 sub-quota for OBCs among minorities

New Delhi, December 28: Only backward sections of the minorities will be entitled to 4.5 per cent reservation within 27 per cent quota for OBCs, the government clarified today in the backdrop of protests by some parties.

Giving a clarification in this regard in the Lok Sabha, Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said inclusion or exclusion in the Central OBC list would be strictly on the basis of backwardness of minorities which include Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists and Parsis.

Los Angeles, December 28: A man has been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) for having sex with a 12-year-old girl several times and forcing her to work as a prostitute.

The man forced the minor to accompany him home where he took advantage of the situation and forced her to have sex with him. The man has been charged with sexual assault of a minor and multiple counts of lewd acts upon a child, police officials told KTLA.com.

‘Cong not caring for country’s federal structure’

Patna, December 28: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday accused Congress of not caring for the federal structure of the country by enacting the Lokayukta legislation.

“The Congress should have cared for the federal structure of the country before enacting the Lokayukta legislation,” Kumar told reporters.

The legislation should have the provision that the matter related to Lokayukta be left on the domain of the state… but the “habit of the Congress-led UPA leadership has it that it wants to do all the works on its own”, he alleged.

Lokpal has no link with election process: ECIshi

Chandigarh, December 28: Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi on Wednesday said that the debate on Lokpal Bill does not have any link with the Election Process as the model code of conduct does not apply to Parliament.

Answering a question from a reporter here this evening regarding the passage of the Lok Pal bill by the Parliament influencing the voters in five states, including Punjab, where assembly elections are to be held early next year, Quraishi said, “Model Code of Conduct does not apply on Parliament.”

Lokpal Bill will fall in Rajya Sabha: BJP

New Delhi, December 28: BJP on Wednesday exuded confidence that the Lokpal Bill will not be passed by the Rajya Sabha as the ruling Congress party does not enjoy comfortable majority in the Upper House.

Youth drowns himself in Himayat Sagar

Hyderabad, December 28: 25 year old Mohammad Fareed resident of Husaini apartment, Rajendar Nagar committed suicide by jumping into Himayat Sagar. It is said that police has fished out his body.

According to police sources Mohammad Fareed had informed his brother on phone that he would commit suicide and would jump in Himayat sagar. Before his family members could reach Himayat Sagar, Mohammad Fareed has drowned himself in the lake.

The findings have been announced by Vuclip, an independent mobile video company.

Drunkard husband hacks wife to death

Adilabad, December 28: Shaikh Gaffar aged 40 resident of Indira Nagar attacked his 35 year old wife Tasleem in drunken state due to family disputes. As a result Tasleem died on the spot.

Yesterday afternoon situation became alarming at Indira Nagar locality of Adilabad town, when a husband hacked his wife with an axe and killed her. Later he tried to commit suicide by setting himself ablaze after pouring kerosene over his body.

The killer husband, when he didn’t die even after being scorched, attacked himself with the axe. He was rushed to RIMS in 108 ambulance.

Another Indian girl sexually molested on school bus

Sharjah, December 28: In yet another shocking incident a four-and-half-year old Indian school girl was sexually assaulted by a bus helper in a school in Sharjah.

Emirates 24|7 has learnt that the girl studying in KG1, came home bleeding and the parents immediately took her to Al Qasimia hospital in Sharjah.

Sharjah police have detained the helper of the bus and the investigation is on.

VN has been a helper in the school bus for the past two years.

Saudi beheads man for murder

Riyadh, December 28: A Saudi man was beheaded on Wednesday by the sword in Riyadh for murder, the interior ministry said.

Salman al-Ghamedi was found guilty of stabbing to death another Saudi, Ahmed al-Qahtani, following a dispute, the ministry said in a statement carried by SPA state news agency.

The beheading brings to 76 the number of executions in Saudi Arabia this year, based on an AFP count.

In September, Amnesty International called on the ultra-conservative Muslim kingdom where 140 people were on death row to establish an “immediate moratorium on executions.”

New Delhi, December 28: Congress president Sonia Gandhi Wednesday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying it had showed “its real face” by spiking a move to give constitutional status to the Lokpal.
