Eight Yemenis killed in Taizz clashes

Sanaa, December 01: At least eight people have been killed in clashes between forces loyal to Yemeni dictator Ali Abdullah Saleh and opposition tribesmen in the southern city of Taizz, medics say.

Medical sources said 20 people were also injured in the fighting that broke out in Taizz on Thursday, AFP reported.

According to witnesses, the fighting began during the early hours of the day as regime troops tried to storm the city center.

Taizz city center is a stronghold of armed tribesmen that have been backing the popular Yemeni revolution since it began in late January.

The construction work was continued despite High Courts order to maintain status quo on the waqf land of Toli mosque. The land grabbers who were trying to occupy the land have the backing of a state minister hence the local police was refusing to stop the construction.

TRS expects Sonia word on Telangana ‎

The high levels of pollution in the city, coupled with the onset of low temperatures is causing what Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board officials claim a possible case of inversion phenomenon. “Its a condition visible in highly polluted areas experiencing dip in temperatures,” said Prasanna Kumar, environmental engineer with the APPCB.

Murder suspect hangs himself in police station

Hyderabad, December 01: A ‘suspect’ in a murder and robbery case died under custody of Medchal police on Wednesday. The suspect hanged himself to death in the toilet and died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

The suspect, N Philips aged around 50 years, was a painter and previously a resident of Shapur. According to police, Philips left his family 25 years back and returned just six months ago and was staying with his daughter, Aruna in Gyanapur village of Medchal mandal.

Gujarat cops can’t be trusted: HC

Ahmedabad, December 01: The Gujarat high court on Thursday ordered CBI probe in fake encounter of Mumbra girl Ishrat Jahan and three others. The court has directed SIT to file a fresh FIR and hand over the subsequent probe to the central agency.

While ordering the CBI probe, the division bench of the HC noted that the case is “exceptional one having national ramifications.” The court has also held that the Gujarat police cannot be trusted to carry out impartial probe in the case.

Quota For Backward Muslims Within OBC Soon

New Delhi, December 01: The government will soon take a decision on fixing a quota for Muslims within the 27 per cent quota fixed for Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Law Minister Salman Khurshid said.

“Of the 27 per cent OBC quota in educational jobs, the government is examining to fix a quota for backward Muslims,” he told reporters outside Parliament.

Khurshid said the decision on fixing a quota for backward Muslims within the OBC quota would be taken “soonest”, but refused to give a timeline.

The Pakistan Censor Board has refused to clear the movie for release in their country. Earlier this year, Delhi Belly too was not cleared for a release there.

It is learnt that after receiving a clearance by the Indian Central Board of Film Certication (CBFC), the Milan Luthria directed film, apparently based on South siren Silk Smitha, was submitted to the Censor Board of Pakistan for censorship.

They do think of sex more often than women do, but there are other stimuli that engage a man’s brain. Besides sex, they think of eating and sleeping, a new study published in the Journal of Sex Research states.

The study discredits the notion that men think about sex every seven seconds, which would amount to more than 8,000 thoughts about sex in 16 waking hours.

Muslim quota: Look at others, PM tells Maya

New Delhi, December 01: Responding to Mayawati’s demand for giving reservation to Muslims, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has asked the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to consider measures which states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala have taken on their own by including Muslims in OBCs.

The Prime Minister has also communicated to Mayawati that the Centre is studying examples of such states and trying to develop a consensus on measures that are justified as per the Constitution on the issue of reservation for Muslims.
