Three lakh NRIs may return 2011-15

New Delhi, November 01: Amid uncertain job market conditions overseas, as many as 3,00,000 Indian engineering professionals are expected to return home during the five-year period from 2011-15, says a survey.

Global workforce solutions provider Kelly Services India has said that more Indians working abroad would migrate back to India within the next five years, lured by promising opportunities in the country.

Anna Hazare threatens PM with hunger strike again

New Delhi, November 01: Anti-corruuption crusader Anna Hazare on Monday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh warning that if the Jan Lokpal Bill is not passed in the winter session of the Parliament he will again start his hunger strike.

Hazare has told the PM that he will start the fast on the last day of Parliament session in case the bill is not passed.

Son of state NCP chief electrocuted

Mumbai, November 01: Union agriculture minister and NCP president Sharad Pawar has cancelled all his crucial political meetings scheduled for November 1 and 2 following the accidental death of the son of state NCP president Madhukar Pichad.

According to a senior NCP leader, Jeetendra (31) died after he came in contact with a live wire in his hometown, Akole, in Ahmednagar on Monday.

Pawar had convened a meeting of NCP ministers on November 1 and senior party leaders on November 2, to discuss the party’s strategy for the coming elections.

Protests in Telangana mark Andhra Pradesh formation day

Tripoli, November 01: Libya’s National Transitional Council has selected an electronics engineer as the nation’s new interim president.

Fifty-one members of the NTC chose Abdel-Rahim al-Keeb, from Tripoli, and he will appoint a new Cabinet in the coming days, the Daily Mail reports.

Jalal el-Gallal, an NTC spokesman, said that al-Keeb received 26 votes in the election.

Gaddafi’s Chemical Weapons Found In Libya

Cairo, November 01: Chemical weapons from the Muammar Gaddafi era have been found in Libya and the new government has sought international help in securing them, National Transitional Council Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril has said. He said the NTC forces have found two chemical weapons sites in the country and they are currently under guard.

Jibril said the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in the Hague and the United States were notified about the findings.

Forces to prevent terror acts during Haj

Riyadh, November 01: The Ministry of Interior has made elaborate arrangements to prevent any terror attacks during the Haj, which begins on Friday and reaches its climax on Saturday when more than two million pilgrims converge on the Plain of Arafat to perform the most important ritual.

Andhra govt not reduced to minority, says Governor

New Delhi, November 01: The Andhra Pradesh governor on Monday said the Congress government in the state has not been reduced to a minority and there is no need for it to prove its majority in the assembly even as the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) said it planned to move a no-confidence motion.

Governor ESL Narasimhan, who met union Home Minister P. Chidambaram in the national capital, told reporters that there is no reason for him to direct the government to seek vote of confidence.
