Hyderabad, November 5: Old mosque Jafferpura Karwan is uninhabited since long. Hyderabad, the city of mosques, has hundreds of mosques which are uninhabited or have been transformed into the residence of either Muslims or non Muslims. Sadly there are a number of uninhabited mosques which are out of our sight which have been converted into dairy forms, factories and garages etc. In these circumstances our faith has been weakened.
Makkah, November 05: The largest golden crescent in the world stands aloft in the sky over the Grand Mosque on the top of a huge clock.
Its height is more than half a kilometer above the ground, raising its arms into space to embrace the sky. The crescent sits on the second tallest tower in the world, weighing about 35 tons, and its construction took three months.
The crescent is 22 meters long and 24 meters wide, and has a diameter of 23 meters.
Hyderabad, November 05: There’s good news for those looking to study in the US. The United States India Educational Foundation (USIEF), in collaboration with the Institute of International Education (IIE) is organising a US Universities Fair at the Taj Krishna on Nov 6 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
A total of 22 US universities, providing a wide range of undergrad and graduate level programs, are expected to participate in the fair.
Hyderabad, November 05: A day after the CBI arrested Koneru Prasad, the managing director of Stylish Homes Pvt Limited, for his alleged role in the Emaar scam, a local court on Friday granted the CBI seven-day custody of Prasad for questioning him about the alleged irregularities in the sale of villas in the Boulder Hills project and the role of various persons, including government officials, in the anomalies. The CBI officials produced Prasad, who is in ‘Bhavani Deeksha’, before the Special Court for Economic Offences in the afternoon.

Hyderabad, November 05: A 16-year-old girl was drugged and repeatedly gang raped by four youths for over a fortnight. This shocking incident came to light on Friday, after the locals rescued the girl from a house in Nagaram area on the outskirts of Nizamabad.
Makkah, November 05: The area around Islam’s holiest site is bustling with pilgrims who are all in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform their hajj pilgrimage.
It is estimated that more than 1.5 million are already in the city, and thousands more are expected to arrive in the coming days.

Dhudike, November 05: Baba Ramdev’s penchant for drawing attention toward himself came to the fore once again when he girded his loins and took to the kabaddi field against English players during the second World Cup Kabaddi 2011 at Dhudike near Moga on Friday.
Minutes later, Ramdev targeted Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh for his remarks on him and members of the civil society who campaigned against corruption. Calling Digvijaya ‘rakshashputra’, Ramdev took a swipe at him saying, “Woh bewakoof hai, badtameez hai” (He is stupid and ill-mannered).
Hyderabad, Novem,ber 05: A pregnant woman was forced to deliver her twin babies on the main road in Mahbubnagar on Friday, after the doctors at the district government hospital turned her away. Following a public outcry, a probe has been ordered.
Lakshmi, 34, gave birth to twins on the road, right in front of the government hospital, after doctors expressed their helplessness and told her family to rush her to Hyderabad. Though she pleaded with the doctors, they refused to admit her.
New Delhi, November 05: The Medical Council of India (MCI) on Friday finalized syllabus for the the all-India common entrance test for admission to MBBS courses and fixed May 13 for holding the exam next year.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) for admission of students to undergraduate courses in 335 medical colleges of the country is scheduled to be held on May 13 next year, the MCI today said even as the nod of the Ministry of Health in this connection is awaited.
Kolkata, November 05: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday slammed the Centre for not consulting Trinamool Congress while taking crucial decisions affecting the common man and warned that she may opt out of the Congress-led UPA coalition government if things do not improve in future.
Addressing a press conference in the state capital, the Trinamool Congress leader lamented, “We are highly disappointed with the Congress’ policy of keeping our party out of important decisions.”
London, November 05: A huge crash involving 26 vehicles on a highway in southwest England killed several people and injured dozens, British authorities said on Friday.
About 35 injuries were reported, ten of which appeared to be severe, and several people were killed, Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement.
Video shown on British news channels showed balls of fire emerging from trucks and billowing smoke at the scene.
Hyderabad, November 05: YSR Congress Party president Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday urged the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to question former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the alleged irregularities in Obulapuram Mining Corporation (OMC) lease.
Talking to the media after a two-hour long examination by officials of the CBI at their Koti office here, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy flashed a Government Order issued by the then Chief Minister Mr. Naidu giving 64 acre lease to Rammohan Reddy of Obulapuram Mining Corporation in 2002.

Panaji, November 05: Nitin Gadkari, president of BJP, on Friday said that though he believes in Hindutva, he does not go to temple, or even perform a puja.
“I don’t go the temple. I don’t perform puja,” Gadkari said during an interaction at ‘Goa Think Fest 2011’ here.
BJP president, however, defended his party’s politics of Hindutva. “Hinduism is a way of life. It is not about a religion,” he said, adding that “political Hindutva is a debatable subject”.
“We are a nationalist party. We have a lot of socio-economic thinking in our party,” Gadkari said.
Jeddah, November 05: Prominent Islamic scholars including Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh have urged worshippers including pilgrims to avoid performing all the compulsory prayers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah in order to reduce overcrowding at the mosque.
“The whole Makkah is considered haram (sacred place) and the prayer at any Makkah mosque is equal in reward to praying at the Haram (Grand) Mosque,” the scholars said.
Mina, November 05: The holy city of Makkah reverberated with chants of “Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik” (O God, here I am answering your call) as nearly three million pilgrims from around the world readied themselves for what is often described as once in a lifetime journey of faith.
Large groups of pilgrims have started arriving in the tent city of Mina for the Yaum Al-Tarwiya ritual where they will spend the day and night of Friday in prayer and meditation before heading for Arafat on Saturday in the climax of the annual pilgrimage.
Hyderabad, November 05: The arrest of industrialist Koneru Rajendra Prasad in the Emaar-APIIC township scam has put his relationship with the who’s who in Andhra Pradesh, including former chief ministers N Chandrababu Naidu and YS Rajasekhara Reddy, under the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) scanner. The CBI on Thursday arrested the founder chairman and chief mentor of Trimex Group and promoter of Stylish Homes Real Estate Limited on charges of cheating, criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, forgery and falsification of accounts.
Cannes, November 04: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday welcomed Pakistan’s decision to grant Most Favoured Nation status to India but said it should have been done long ago.
“Better late than never. I welcome it,” Singh told reporters here in this French coastal resort when asked about Pakistan’s decision to grant MFN status to India.
He said, “as one who believes that, rightly or wrongly, the destinies of countries in South Asia are very closely linked. I welcome the decision of Pakistan to grant us the Most Favoured Nation treatment.”
New Delhi, November 04: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Friday defended the petrol price hike, terming it a ‘compulsion’ of the central government.
‘There is a price rise, and there is no doubt that it is affecting all of us across the board. But I suppose it was (the hike) due to the central government’s compulsions,’ Dikshit told reporters Friday.
‘It is not that the government is not concerned. I think it is something we have to face with determination,’ she said.
The price of petrol was hiked by Rs.1.80 Thursday night.

New Delhi, November 04: A 27-year-old MBA student, the daughter of a former director in the social welfare ministry, committed suicide by jumping off the fifth floor of her apartment in the capital, police said Friday.
Sonali Nautiyal was residing at Brotherhood Apartments in west Delhi’s Vikasupuri area with her family.
‘The incident took place around 9 a.m. Friday when Sonali committed suicide by jumping off the fifth floor of the apartment building,’ said a police official.
New Delhi, November 04: The opposition on Friday lashed out at the UPA government for raising petrol prices with BJP attributing it to the Government’s “mismanagement” and the Left parties asking all their state units to launch nationwide protests.
Chief Ministers of two non-Congress ruled states ridiculed the Congress-led UPA government’s ‘Aam Aadmi’ slogan and said the petrol price rise has exposed the anti-poor face of the Congress party which claims to be the votary of common man.
New Delhi, November 04: In the wake of a spat between the Chinese envoy to India and a journalist, BJP on Friday said the government should take cognisance of such “brazen acts of undiplomatic behaviour” and warn the ambassador officially not to indulge in unfriendly acts in future.
BJP insisted that such behaviour was totally unacceptable and insulting to Indian democracy and demanded an “unqualified apology” from the ambassador to the people.
Chennai, November 04: After the Trinamool Congress, another key UPA partner DMK on Friday opposed the petrol price hike, saying it was “not at all satisfied” with the increase which was “untimely”.
“We are not at all satisfied with the hike. It was untimely. Frequent increase in petroleum products is not fair,” DMK Parliamentary Party leader in the Lok Sabha T R Baalu told agency.
He said when the food inflation was already high, increasing the prices of petroleum products was “definitely a burden on the common man”.
