Pune, November 08: Three weeks after 26-year-old lawyer Juhi Prasad was burnt to death in Pune, the mystery around her death has only deepened.

“She always told me ‘Papa I won’t be a liability’. She was a very emotional girl. Whosoever is the culprit should be arrested immediately,” said Juhi’s father EV Prasad.

Police say Juhi’s boyfriend Nimesh Sinha claims that his ex-lover, IT professional Anushree Kundra, set them on fire while they were both asleep.

Air Mishap Averted At Varanasi Airport

Varanasi, November 08: A major mishap was averted at the airport here on Monday when the pilot of a SpiceJet flight with 200 passengers on board spotted a Jet Airways plane on the runway as he prepared to land, airport officials said.

At around 3:45 PM, the Jet Airways plane with 145 passengers on board came on the runway and was getting ready to take off for Mumbai. At the same time, the SpiceJet flight from Mumbai (via Delhi) was about to land, the officials said.

Congress leader continues fast for Telangana

Hyderabad, November 08: Demanding separate statehood for Telangana, Congress leader and legislator Komatireddy Venkat Reddy continued his indefinite hunger strike for the eighth day Tuesday at a government-run hospital here.

Ignoring the appeals of the party leadership, the former Andhra Pradesh minister refused to call off the fast, saying he would do so only after the central leadership makes a clear cut statement in favour of carving out a separate state.

Saudi girl lures rapists into police trap

Riyadh, November 08: Three Saudi men who kidnapped and raped a girl later found themselves in police grip after they were lured into a snare by the victim herself.

The three had snatched off the Saudi girl as she walked back home from work in the eastern province of Ihsa. They bundled her in their car, drove to a deserted farm and took turns in raping her.

Acting on police instructions, the girl called them a few days later and said she would like to be with them again.

Students arrested for killing old couple

Lucknow, November 08: Three students have been arrested for allegedly murdering the retired principal of a government polytechnic institute and his wife with sharp edged weapons in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district, police said Tuesday.

Varun Kumar, Ajai Singh and Aalam, all about 20 years old, were arrested Monday. The three are accused of killing retired principal J.P. Mishra (65) and his wife Lakshmi (63) on Oct 30 at their residence in Qidwai Nagar, about 80 km from here. They also fled with the valuables in the house.

Jet Airways-Air India flight collision averted

Tiruchirappalli, November 08: A possible collision between a Jet Airways flight for Chennai and an Air India Express aircraft headed for Abudhabi was on Monday averted in Tiruchirappalli when ATC personnel scrambled quickly and alerted the pilots.

Airport sources said that the ATC staff saw the Air India Express flight, with 170 passengers on board, landing at about the same time when the Jet Airways plane was about to leave the airport at 14:30 hours, 25 minutes behind the schedule.

Russian man kept 29 mummified bodies: Police

Moscow, November 08: Russian police discovered 29 mummies at the home of a well-known local historian who dug the bodies up from cemeteries and dressed them in clothes scavenged from graves, they said on Tuesday.

A police video of the man’s apartment in the Volga River city of Nizhny Novgorod shows a gruesome tableau of what looks like dolls dressed in bright dresses and headscarves, some with their hands and faces appearing to be wrapped in cloth.

Police said they were mummified remains.

Bhatt demands security against ‘Modi supporters, Hindu fanatics’

Ahmedabad, November 08: Suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, who deposed against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in connection with the post Godhra riots, on Sunday made fresh demands for a bullet-proof car and the appointment of a nodal officer to look after his security, citing ‘ever increasing’ threat to his life.

“In the wake of the ever increasing threat to me and my family from (Narendra) Modi supporters and Hindu fanatics, I request you to designate a nodal officer for my security arrangements while travelling outside Ahmedabad,” he said in a letter to the state home ministry.

Karachi, November 08: Former Pakistan captain and coach Waqar Younis Monday said that Shahid Afridi’s frequent outbursts in the media are hurting the country’s image and he should focus on his cricket rather than “a lot of talking.”

Waqar and Afridi have not shared the best of relations ever since Pakistan’s tour to the West Indies in May when they both had differences in selection matters as coach and captain of the team. Afridi was stripped off captaincy after that tour and Waqar resigned from the post in September.

‘Israel spreading spy hubs across Asia’

Tehran, November 08: The Israeli spy agency, Mossad, is decentralizing by spreading its operational and espionage centers to several Asian countries, a report says.

The report leaked from some diplomatic circles said Tel Aviv had taken the decision after coming under several retaliatory attacks by the Iranian intelligence services, Fars News Agency reported on Monday.

The decision also came after Iran arrested a number of terrorists operating for ‘the Zionist regime of Israel’ and revealed some of Tel Aviv’s anti-Iran intelligence strategies.

Boxes to drop off unwanted babies in Russia

Moscow, November 08: Russian hospitals have begun to introduce so-called baby boxes where new mothers will be able to place their unwanted newborns, officials said on Monday.

According to the RIA Novosti news agency, Russian health officials said mothers will be able to anonymously drop off their unwanted babies in order to provide safe conditions for the newborns as many of them are commonly left in garbage containers.
